14/07/2016 - 33cl bottle in a Brussels restaurant.
Brown colour with tanned head. Nose is dark malts, caramel. Taste is dark malts, caramel, alcohol, not overly sweet. Cybercat (5966) - Georgia, USA - AUG 9, 2017
Pours clear copper with a thick and fairly persistent beige head. Aroma presents fruity and toasted malt notes. Flavor kicks these both up a notch and adds caramel and a touch of resiny hops to the mix. Mouthfeel offers good body and fair fizz. Lucky monks, living on this for 40 days! Dark brown color with a thick lasting tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, light biscuit, some fruity and floral notes. Flavors of dried fruits, toasty biscuit, hints of banana and clove, light toffee, some fruity acidity. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a soft mouthfeel. Very good! inbirraveritas (1603) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 13, 2017
Bottled, 33 cl.
Colour is opal dark brown with a red touch. The creamy beige head remains finger thick.
Nose of raised pie and fruits.
The fruity aroma brings caramel, some earth and bread, mouthfeel is slick.
Gently warming, fruity-earthy finish.
Not bad. roldano (150) - - JUL 11, 2017
Espuma beige-marrón que permanece como una fina capa, color marrón oscuro donde no se aprecia pasar la luz, aroma ligero en nariz con notas dulces, sabor con matices dulces y tostados y regusto agradable

0,33l bottle. Cloudy dark ruby colour with big but quickl shrinking and staying tan head. Aroma: Candy sugar, light cognac notes with matured cheese/yeast tones. Taste: Sweet malty/bready start with a significant bitter mouthfeel. The malty caracter is overwhelmed by the bitter tone and not in a good way, makes an overall unbalanced feel. Medium/full body with fizzy carbonation. Long bitter and very dry finish. The bitterness, the short malty feel, the dry finish and the fizzy carb. drives the beer to a different direction from the original dubbel caracteristics. ruuurd (280) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 24, 2017
An average, but still enjoyable double beer. Dark, but lacks some sweetness in my opinion nephirem (583) - CROATIA - JUN 15, 2017
Bottle, 0.33l. Deep ruby pour with one finger frothy off-white head. Below average retention, persistent thin layer. Good lacing. Usual nose for the style, mostly malty with caramel notes.
Thin to medium body with slightly aggressive carbonation. Regular texture, a bit fizzy. Bittersweet taste with slightly sticky mouthfeel. Aroma decent but quite usual. Caramel malts, belgian yeast, sugar. Bready. Herbal and peppery. Some bitterness in the aftertaste, a bit off-placed. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall, ok. Pretty much an average dubbel with nothing to stand out from the crowd. anfractuosity (441) - - JUN 15, 2017
Taste of dark fruits like dates and caramel/toffee. High carbonation. Sweet spicy aroma. Very enjoyable. elrojo (1) - Kremlin bicetre, FRANCE - MAY 31, 2017 does not count
