Very dark, coffee color - full rich body - staying head - effervescent nose - soft velvet feeling in the mouth - luscious. Malt character with a hoppy aftertouch. Monks used to fast on this type of beer for 40 days! No food, only beer.

Copenhagen 26/11 2018. 75 cl bottle from Høkeren. This version has an ABV of 8%. What looks like some kind of Heron printed directly on the bottle. Pours slightly hazy reddish maroon with small off-white head. No lacing. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam. Aroma earthy with a whiff of humid basement. Caramel and brown sugar. Medium carbonation and medium thick palate. Flavor is rather sweet - without being cloying. Followed by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish caramel with bitter notes. Lingering. Decent Belgian Bruin.

Bottle from Lidl, Wrekenton, Gateshead. Hazy copper coloured with a thick white head. It has a rich malty and spicy dried fruity flavour followed by a warming candy sugar and plum finish. Very good.

Cybion (198) - Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2017
Bottle, 330 ml. Pours clear-ish dark reddish-brown with a small amount of dense light tan head. Thick lacing and minimal visible carb. Aroma is sweet and malty up front; muscavado sugar, mollasses, light spice (cinnamon, nutmeg?), rich honey. Edges of dark fruit, light yeasty spice. Taste is sweet and fruity; candied fruit and rich honey up front, dark fruits, syrup behind. Lightly bitter and fairly dry finish with lingering cereal/bread. Light yeasty spice, slight warmth to it throughout. Body is light, texture is a bit too watery, carbonation is moderate. Not amazing but perfectly drinkable and better than the tripel for sure. Probably gets a bit better as it warms.

jjsint (3735) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2017
Bottle from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds (online order). Mid-brown, quite translucent with a bit of cream-coloured head. Light aroma of cola and hazelnut. Sweet taste, very nutty with heavy molasses and corn syrup notes. There's a little bit of hoppy bitterness near the finish, but it's pretty one-dimensional. Cherry soda and caramel malt in the aftertaste. Well carbonated. Drinkable but still disappointing.
