3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle. Pours a dark brown color, kicks up a big tan head in my tulip glass. Smells lightly sweet without the extra sugar smell of some Belgians. Takes me a while to get to the beer through all that foam, but what I get is a slightly fizzy body surrounding a pretty fresh malt taste. This bottle sat in the un-air-conditioned Foremost Liquors for goodness knows how long, but it’s held up pretty nicely. Definite brown malts at work, with fruitiness and slight tart of apple and vanilla. A bit of stickiness on my lip shows that this is still sweet, but well balanced. Background notes of ginger, lemon and nutmeg, too. A nice, complex brew.
Bottled, 33 cl.
Colour is opal dark brown with a red touch. The creamy beige head remains finger thick.
Nose of raised pie and fruits.
The fruity aroma brings caramel, some earth and bread, mouthfeel is slick.
Gently warming, fruity-earthy finish.
Not bad. roldano (138) - - JUL 11, 2017
0,33l bottle. Cloudy dark ruby colour with big but quickl shrinking and staying tan head. Aroma: Candy sugar, light cognac notes with matured cheese/yeast tones. Taste: Sweet malty/bready start with a significant bitter mouthfeel. The malty caracter is overwhelmed by the bitter tone and not in a good way, makes an overall unbalanced feel. Medium/full body with fizzy carbonation. Long bitter and very dry finish. The bitterness, the short malty feel, the dry finish and the fizzy carb. drives the beer to a different direction from the original dubbel caracteristics. ruuurd (245) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 24, 2017
An average, but still enjoyable double beer. Dark, but lacks some sweetness in my opinion nephirem (540) - CROATIA - JUN 15, 2017
Bottle, 0.33l. Deep ruby pour with one finger frothy off-white head. Below average retention, persistent thin layer. Good lacing. Usual nose for the style, mostly malty with caramel notes.
Thin to medium body with slightly aggressive carbonation. Regular texture, a bit fizzy. Bittersweet taste with slightly sticky mouthfeel. Aroma decent but quite usual. Caramel malts, belgian yeast, sugar. Bready. Herbal and peppery. Some bitterness in the aftertaste, a bit off-placed. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall, ok. Pretty much an average dubbel with nothing to stand out from the crowd.

Dark brown, fading beige head. Aromas: hay, roasted malts, grassy hops. Flavors follow the nose, but there are some roasted sunflower seeds. Sweet and bitter. Okay. crazykiller (66) - iasi, ROMANIA - MAY 23, 2017
