COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When the Irish brew their stouts, the roasted flavor and dark color comes from unmalted roasted barley. When roasted barley is used in a lighter colored beer, the result is a color best described as somewhat red. At least it’s not green! O.G. 1053 I.B.U. 25

On tap. The color is a red, almost dark orange, with a short white head. The aroma is faintly toasted malt and a small amount of hops. The flavor is slightly malty with a small amount of spicy hops in the aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty good stuff with all the notes you would expect to find in a red: caramel, slightly sweet, and smooth. Nice vacation brew, but the highlight of the visit was the incredible stone fired BBQ chicken pizza I had--excellent!

Gold pour with a watery white head and lace. Light caramel aroma. Light caramel, hint of vanilla, and a very light bitter. Medium light bodied with fizzy carbonation.

Amber body, decent head. Honeyed malt nose with a dose of bubblegum. The flavor is again characterized by honey malt, with the additional quaility of chewy, cereal graininess.

lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2010
Orange-red clear off white cover. Aroma is grainy, husky, tannic, biscuity, bread. Taste is grainy, caramel, toast, biscuit.

2.8
travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2008
Light red color with a little head. Good body. Sweet caramel in the aroma and in the taste. Somewhat weak taste wise. Malts in there as well not too much hops.

CaptBier (323) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - MAY 1, 2008
Draft. Good lacing with small soapy head. Light amber color. Weal aroma. Very light malt with almost no hops. Very understated taste.

illinismitty (2271) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 31, 2008
Draft at Nashville. Pours and beautiful amber with an ivory head. Faint aroma of caramel. Flavor of caramel, wet grains, and toasted malt with no real discernible hop bitterness (just enough to keep it in balance.) Strong vegetal notes on the finish. Disappointing.
