Great description. Fantastic write-up. Valiant effort. High goals. But I’m afraid a bottled Newcastle beats this on tap. Not a bad beer, just not a memorable/unique beer.
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2017 Decent version of the style, hitting a deep Nutella malt vein with apple esters accenting the sweetness. Finishes bland but the nuttiness is appreciably pronounced. Foxbush (2071) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - SEP 18, 2016
Draft at the brewpub in Memphis The brown ale poured a reddish/brown color , beige head with no lacing. You detect toffee and chocolate malts on the nose. This was a bit sweet for my taste. The ale had a light body with soft carbonation. the finish was dry with no bitterness.. jackl (8271) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 12, 2014
Keg @ Boscos, LR. Hazy brown pour with a tiny head. Oh god, the diacetyl. It’s putrid, offensive, and detectable from several feet away. The flavor isn’t as bad. A bit of caramel with some cocoa. Light body, soft carbonation. Why on earth do places choose to serve product in this condition? Travlr (25528) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 21, 2014
Draft as Downtown Brown. Cloudy golden amber, tan head. Aroma of light caramel. Taste of cocoa and caramel. Plain. jcnielsen (3412) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUL 23, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2014 On tap at Boscos Squared in Memphis. Pours a brown color with white head. Malty, roasty, nutty flavors. Not bad.

Draft - Toffee and nuts. Clear amber with a rich beige head. Toffee, light bitterness and a nutty finish. A little on the sweet side, but decent. onceblind (10097) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 29, 2013
Clear semi dark amber with a thin spotty white head. Nose is nutty and a bit funky with body odor-and-forehead-grease-on-pajamas sort of aroma. Luckily the flavor features none of that nastiness but had a nice sweet dark malty nuttiness and a touch of chocolate grains. A bit chewy and grainy for its own good, not as "brown" as I feel it should be. shadey (2142) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 2, 2013
On Tap at Boscos. Redish brown pour. Sticky lacing. Sweet nutty caramel malt aroma. Sweet flavor with just enough hop bite to clean it up. Standard American brown. jhgrantjr (473) - Tennessee, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Sample at Boscos in Memphis. Pours a nice brown color with small off-white head. Aroma of roasted nuts, caramel, brown sugar, malts, chocolate. Taste is malty with some caramel. A smooth taste. There is some hop character at the end with some bitterness, and the palate is lightly thick.

1/2 pint at the Brewpub Little Rock (still called Downtown Brown as of this writing) . Pour is brown, all right, with a small stable head and no lacing. It’s well-balanced, with equal parts bitters and malt, and just a little bit "nutty". Not FULL of taste, but an interesting offering nonetheless.
