Pours clear brown from bottle conditioned bottle with one finger head leaving little lacing. Boozy and caramel up front with a little burn in the throat. Very carbonated that brings complex flavors to the palate. Some sour and bitterness balances the initial sweetness. Some funk with dark fruit . Long bitter finish. This is intense and perhaps too complex for my palate. SmellGood (339) - Memphis, Tennessee, USA - JAN 26, 2008
Very good beer but their were flavors flying at you from all directions. The balance of malts and hops enlivened this beer as well. CaptBier (323) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - MAY 1, 2008
Draft. Thick soapy head. Very dark brown color but great clarity. Heavy aroma of malt and spices. Heavy malt flavor with notes of coffee and slight alcohol warming. A pleasant yet heavy strong ale. ericmc83 (207) - Arkansas, USA - NOV 19, 2005
Characteristic of its style. Well balanced and hides its alcohol well. I missed having this on cask by about 30 minutes! So I had to settle for having it on tap. Oh well. It was still good. KDorgan12 (169) - Memphis, Tennessee, USA - FEB 21, 2008
Draft-Memphis. Sweet Hops fill the nose and balance well with a malty, viscous brew. This was surprizingly refreshing for a beer of this gravity. THANK YOU HOPS!
