Brazen brassy colored brew with bubbly head. Subdued brown and medium crystal malt nose needs some coaxing. For some reason, the flavors just don’t quite mesh for this beer. Leafy bitterness mixed with bland malt and wet shoe. Not a particularly favorable combination. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 2, 2011
Caramel red, beige cover. Aroma is bland, metallic caramel. Taste is sticky toffee, tin, meh. SmellGood (339) - Memphis, Tennessee, USA - JAN 23, 2008
In my limited experience with alts, I found this to be quite flavorful and hoppy. Maybe too hoppy for an alt but definitely to my liking. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - DEC 21, 2007
(Tap) Pours a brown color with a very small tan head. Aroma of hops, grass, and doughy malt. Taste included some light caramel notes and some roasted nut. Moderately bitter finish. Average mouthfeel and palate for the style. I think this is a bit more hoppy than a altbier should be, but I liked it nevertheless. charcot25 (181) - Cordova, Tennessee, USA - DEC 19, 2007
A dark brown beer. Has little aroma but there is a noticeable herbal, almost minty, German noble hop flavor accompanied by notes of caramel, slight graininess and light roasted character.
