Reid (2673) - Salem, Oregon, USA - SEP 2, 2007
500ml bottle Light golden beer, small white head, some lacing. Aroma is actually not too bad, honeyish malts mainlly but it smelled fresh to me. Flavour sweet malts, rather honeyish, marshmallow even, the barest hint of hops, somewhat salty. Not bad on the palate, heavy but smooth enough. Im not sure if I got the same beer as most other raters, but i found this very acceptable. FAR FAR better than any of its American cousins , the Malt Liquors.

The flavor here is rather weak, offering some vague malty flavors and some tanginess from the hops without any distinct hop flavors. A cut above a typical macro, but not by much. The worst though is the way it feels - there’s some odd oily feeling to it that makes it sit strangely on the tongue. Not an awful drink, but for about another ten cents you can get the Black Boss Porter, which is infinitely better.

beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - JUL 25, 2007
Pours clear amber with a small white head. The flavor is much nicer then the aroma, light smoked flavor to the finish that gives it some character. Nose of cheap macro brew, corny, faint caramel and bread. The light smoked flavor in the finish helped cover up some of the bland flavors and gave it some character. Still overall felt like they were going for the higher ABV above taste.

BückDich (5477) - McCall, Idaho, USA - JUN 12, 2007
Bottle: Amber color, light head and lacing. Nose of light skunk, vegetal fermented rice and sweet malt. The flavor is chewy, strong banana and sweet rice notes along with the alcohol. Good as far as strong lagers go, but the sweet ricey overtones are annoying after a while.

blueduk (118) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - FEB 9, 2007
Pours clear pale gold with a medium white (almost yellowy) head. Some retention. Opens with a musty perfume of hops and corn. I’d allow a bit of cream/yogurt in the aroma, too. Not much to be had. Beer is light on the palate, clean mouthfeel, mild bitterness. Light corn syrup flavor - a bit metallic in a short finish. More drinkable than many American light lagers.

Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - FEB 8, 2007
Probably cornier than the other mocnes that I’ve enjoyed. Bright yellow with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is corny with some bready malt, alcohol, and a sharp grassy bitterness. Surprizingly light bodied. A bit too sweet to my taste buds - too much corn syrup - and the nose-promised bitterness falls short. Drinkable, but I’ll stick with my Zaibo.

GreatLibations (1854) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - JAN 2, 2007
Pours a waxy, pale yellow w/ a full semi creamy froth. Smells like grassy lemon rinds. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are grassy w/ a mellow sweetness. Sweet grassy cream. Finish is bittered to parchment. Overall: a very odd tasting brew.

Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 5, 2006
500mL bottle. Poured clear lighter golden with a quickly-receding cap of white head. Aroma was of wet hay, not-so-pleasant corn, honey, and other ugly stuff. Corn syrup, honey, and some sort of alcoholl-ey fuel in the flavor department.. came across as a very poor malt liquor... lighter-body with a sticky, nasty finish with honey, corn, and alcohol. This was about 3 levels of suck beyond what I had hoped for. Blech.

Immy (1958) - Virginia Beach, USA - JUN 10, 2006
500ml bottle. Clear yellow pour with a medium white head. Very pungent aromas - smelled it as soon as I cracked the cap. Cornlike scent, slightly sweet malt. Fair lace, nice carbonation. Flavors are pretty run of the mill lager. Boss of the average, maybe...

bhensonb (15963) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 27, 2006
500 ml. 8.1% bottle labeled "Boss Beer". Something of a sweet corn aroma. Nice gold color, deeper than Bud. Flavor is not much; more sweet corn? Medium mouthfeel with gentle carbonation - tiny bubbles. Finish with little hop, but alcohol is detectable. It’s not bad, it’s just more or less nothing. Very drinkable, until the finish arrives. Then the taste is more alcohol. A bit puckery. I don’t get it.
