2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Into a pint glass. Rusty brown color. Almost a finger of head... quickly gone though.
Smells like wood smoke and a little pine tree.
A little soapy taste, solid brunt bitterness, big malt backbone with a little sweetness to it.
A thicker medium body with low carbonation.
It’s a good beer, but I’m just not excited about it.
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours clear very dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light chocolate/nuttiness/coffee, herbal, and floral/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light chocolate/nuttiness/coffee, herbal, and floral/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light chocolate/nuttiness/coffee, and herbal/floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly drying from roast/hop bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice imperial red ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. This is borderline on being a brown ale; but is still really tasty and enjoyable. Radek Kliber (7470) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - OCT 2, 2014

(12oz bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small cream head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, nuts, and toasted grain. Flavor of caramel, dried cherries, nuts, roasted grain, and toffee with a bitter finish. rumproasts (5588) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 2, 2014
bottle. Reddish brown with small head. Malty base with medium hops. I’m not a fan of crystal malt, and this one has a very generous amount, so I’m not really enjoying this much.

Pours brown with red hue and beige head. Has the aroma of sweet malty caramel. Very nice taste of hops, caramel, molasses, and a lingering yeast taste. Medium bodied. Nice Lectvay (191) - Boise, Idaho, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Intriguing beer. Dark brown, very opaque. Smells quite sweet, like creme brulee or something. Taste is a little sweet and much roastier than I expected. A little creamy, and a hint of coffee, so it made me think of a latte. Not how I would expect an imperial red ale taste, but I like it. Erzengel (9355) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - FEB 1, 2014

Many thanks to my Secret Santa nimbleprop for this beer!!
Reddish-brown in the glass, nose is dark malty, plums, not too nice. The beer starts rough, malty. Dark red fruit. Plums. Viscous. Slightly sweet - too sweet. Dark dried cherries, The aftertaste is medium, fruity, a bit of dark and bitter chocolate, espresso, but this doesn’t fit. Slightly unround. The aftertaste is long, intense but a bit pushing. And not really easy to drink.
Nice experience, but it didn’t convinced me. --> 6/8/7/7
Bottle. Pours reddish brown. Aroma of dirt, some alcohol perhaps. Taste is not pleasant, and finishes bitter, and sticky.

12oz bottle pours a hazy, brick red with some sudsy white head. Nose is decent enough, some malt, some red grape, some blood orange, bread crust. Flavor is malty, cracker, bread crust, orange peel, some pepper. Full bodied, bitter finish.
