Pours from tap pitch black with a thick foamy white head into a pint glass. Taste is rich in malts and alcohol. Moderate thickness. Really smooth but has a tiny bite in the aftertaste.

Bottleshare at Chez Smith. Thanks to Leighton. Clear deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a little thin for the abv, sweetish dark malt cream. Very spicy hops, starting to burn. Pine and ripe fruits. Light finish leaves a fruity spicy tangy linger. Sweet malts and fierce hops. Like it.

Aroma is woody, nutty malts, pine, jammy fruits, apricot, . Flavour is composed of nutty toasted malts woody pine, brown sugars. Jammy fruits. Bottle at LKS. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, oily, raisin, blueberry, fruit cake, candy, oily, treacle and toasty sugars. The taste is slick, oily, chewy, sweet, blackberry, blackcurrant, jammy, spicy, spice, damp wood and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent. Bottle shared in Hackney - sourced from the US. Pours deep brown with a steady. Foamy khaki head. Restrained aroma, some well toasted malts, faint cocoa, scorched earth. Medium sweet flavour with further cocoa character, good roast, earth, raisins. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with more toasted malts, faint ash, bittersweet chocolate, more earth, dried berries. Not bad overall.

Nose is brown bread, biscuit, spice, grains, light cocoa, pine.
Taste comprises light charr, brown bread, brown sugar, spice, grains, light pine, chocolate rub.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close.

Bottle:   Moderate Black IPA example.   Fairly dark at least, and not so much with the pasture.   Decent balance, soft hops, moderate malty base, roasty.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Mild sweetness, a little pith and peel.   Moderate example through and through, but easy to drink and fairly clean.   Seems like a pretty solid example of a Black IPA.   Roasty, sweet, and hoppy.   Enjoying this one more than I thought I would.   Solid! jmohno (1620) - Iowa, USA - JUN 19, 2016
2 bucks and 2 years old. Black , cold but vacant aroma. Faint choc and roast. Taste is mild really with light roast chocolate, mild sweet. Generic tasting but refined. May 17th 2014 - Boulder Beer’s 35th Anniversary beer is proud to announce it’s birthday, donning the label jacket with a simple but powerful image of Boulder’s nuzzling coziness to the front range, and the jutting, epic red rocks that guard the West. It’s a dark beer, but smooth looking, like a freshly dry cleaned tuxedo. The aroma is both hoppy and malty, with some licorice and anise, and then some evergreen smells, like pine and juniper, though steeped in alcohol. The flavor is also hoppy, though not totally bitter. Instead, there’s a strong, sharp, pointed hop note out front, with plenty of foam. It’s not an extravagant amount of carbonation, but it is definitely fully-foamed. The aftertaste is patterned after the rest of the flavor, with a one dimensional hit of hops, and a little supplementary work from alcohol, giving the sensation of cedar and pine. Not black, but a very dark brown. Medium bitter with a roasted quality and a little sweetness coming through. Thin to medium body.
