On tap at the brewery, poured into a pint glass. Very aromatic and smooth with wonderful chocolate notes. Sadly, I had one of the last pours of this beer ever! Brewery explained to me that this beer was made from a mistake, and the recipe wasn’t recorded... Hopefully they will try and recreate it, so it can be enjoyed again. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - APR 17, 2012
Draft to snifter at Dutch’s. Looks good; dark with 1/2" head. Smells good too; nice balance of hops and malt. Tastes great! I can’t believe this is 12%!!! Holy hell, this is one of the easiest drinking big beers I’ve ever had, especially for its type! Mouthfeel is flawless. Phenomenal! DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 20, 2012
On tap. Very dark red color (essentially black). Nice, thick foamy khaki head, leaving great lace. Very nice, big hop and dark roasty malty flavor, very tasty. Bit of chocolate. Piney, resiny hops. Pineapple. Nice bittersweet delicious taste. Light crisp carbonation. Big body, so big. Slight alcohol bite, but not what you’d expect from this ABV. I’m a fan. Glad to have had a chance to try this "mess-up". Would love a world where I could drink this kind of thing all the time. Sledutah (7789) - Utah, USA - FEB 16, 2012
On tap at the brewpub @ DIA mnmike (1086) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Appearance: Dark brown with a medium sized tan head and good lacing
Aroma: Tropical fruit, floral, grapefruit, chocolate and roasted malts
Taste: Roasted malts, chocolate, citrus, caramel with a sticky pine resin finish
This was very good, well balanced, smooth and easy to drink.
On tap and very strong. Don’t remember a whole lot after putting one of these down late in the night - but I know I liked it.

Tap at Max’s. Pours clear black with a medium, fizzy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, nutty and roast malt, dates, figs, and raisins with leather notes and earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant, heavy hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters and a sweet finish. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Has a nice black color with a tan head, that leaves a nice lacing. Has a nice hoppy/roast scent and taste. One of my favorite black ipas.

Pretty good beer, but kinda sweet for a DIPA. Served with a medium sized, light tan head that settles to a light cover which does last a while and lots o lace. Color is an almost opaque, black ruby. Aroma is an odd combination of malt, roast, molasses, perfume, meat, and insect repellent. Flavor’s like nose, hugely sweet (for a DIPA!), carbonic tang is behing the sweet by some distance and bitterness is beat way back. Body is decent; ditto carbonation. Finish is of average length and booze is well hidden. sonnycheeba (6259) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 29, 2012
Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with thick, creamy beige head; good retention and some lacing. Aroma dark fruit, roasted malt, brown sugar, earthy and floral hops, and some nutty notes. Flavor is balanced malt, hops, and dark fruit esters with a slight hint of alcohol; sweet finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth. Bacterial (3040) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - APR 14, 2012
One of 4 kegs in MN at The Hanger Room. Heard the story of this being a mistake - a beautiful case of when some jackass gives you lemons, you should make lemonade! Pour is black with a thick tan head. Nose is malty, taste is incredibly smooth for a 12% brew. Chocolate and roasted malts are pleasant - an excellent mistake!
