COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Traditional winter seasonals are warm and comforting - not this Penguin. Diving in at around 10 percent alcohol by volume, Killer Penguin uses over twice the malt as other winter beers, and is aged for over 6 months to perfect the condition and flavor of this barleywine style ale. This beer doesn't ferment, it hibernates, and wakes up with an attitude.

2006 wax sealed bottle. Quite a bit of the old leather, smoke and rancid caramel aged flavors. A little fruit still left in there, raison and peach. Very chunky at the botttom. Smooth, strong, very tasty, just not among the best.

BB backlog, bottle shared with Joe and Meghan. Pours an amber orange with minimal sized head and not much lacing to notes. Smell and taste are booze, wood, sweet fruit, toffee, and other traditional barley wine notes.

Tap @ Denver Airport: Clear brown with a small off-white ring head. Way to thin and malty to even be considered a solid BW. Meh. Disappointed that I wasted my hard earned money on this penguin poo.

22oz bottle pours out a orangish amber topped with a sand head. Nose is big caramel malt sweetness some citrus and pit fruit. Taste is more of the nice rich caramel malts well balanced sweetness and a light hop.

Gluepot (499) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 22, 2016
A big, light tan head with solid lacing on a dense, unfiltered orange/brown body. Taste profile starts with a nice boozy warmth with rich toffee, roasted malt and dark berries. Candied fruit and fresh hops boost and add to the flavour. The body is dense and rich. A slight syrupiness is well balanced by solid effervescence. A hint of sourness? My kind of barley wine.

2014 bottle, somewhat muted nose, light carbonation and some lingering lacing. Really nice moouthfeel. Taste is enjoyable yet not explosive. Some dark fruits and minuscule amount of residual hoppiness lead to a nice balanced brew with no alcohol burn. Would rebuy but not seek out

sudomorph (1106) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - APR 9, 2016
2014 bomber. Pours a clear ruby caramel with a thin, film head and mild sediment. Aroma has nice, slightly sweet notes with bread, caramel, toffee, slight vanilla, faint citrus, pine, and resin. Taste is balanced but a touch sweet with notes of bread, caramel, faded pine, resin, citrus, toffee, and a drawn out, bready caramel ending. Medium-full body with a medium, frothy carbonation. Mildly syrupy texture. Overall a nice, bready, fruity Barley Wine with lots if caramel, sugar, toffee, and smooth hops.

revoltingblob (45) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 30, 2016
6 oz bottle. Pours a dark Ruby garnet. Very pretty. Tiny head with no lacing. Nose is robust hops with some sweetness underneath, candied fruit, figs, toffee. Palate is nice hop bitterness, more candied fruit, toffee, raisins. Very nice. Mouth feel is a tad dry with nice balance of hop bitterness and sweetness. Despite the tacky label this was a very nice beer. I dig it.

guzzler67 (1672) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - MAR 8, 2016
Hazy, rust colored appearance with a small, off white head and light lacing. Aroma of ripe fruit, rum, toffee and wheat bread. Flavor got off to a sweet malt start before the graininess and alcohol become more distinct. Ripe fruit wove in and out of the boozy aftertaste. Medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel. Carbonation seemed too pronounced for a barleywine. Long lasting finish.

Translucent dark amber pour. Very malty caramel nose. Caramel malts, alcohol, decent hop finish. Quite drinkable.
