22 oz bottle. Very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, light roast, and some molasses. Taste is chocolate and light roast- with light molasses notes, oatmeal, and oak. I would like have liked the roast to be a bit more assertive, with a bit of a fuller body considering this is 7.5 % Overall not bad though. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - DEC 6, 2007
sweet honey tones coupled with burnt grain. jet black and a thin weak faint espresso head. clover honey sweetness with silky dark roast is like putting honey on black bread. tasty rich stout finishes with the flaked oatmeal in moderation. kitschy (326) - Nebraska, USA - DEC 3, 2007
tasted at crescent moon winter beer tasting. dark brown beer with a dark brown head. aroma is like a vanilla caramel latte... which is how the beer tastes! nice and thick and delicious. tyler_mn (1475) - SLP, Minnesota, USA - DEC 3, 2007
Bottle. Astringent aroma of bitter chocolate and coffee. Some liquorice and bitter molasses as well. Pours dark brown... almost black with a big, creamy, seemingly sticky khaki head leaving average lacing. Flavor is dry and bitter. Dry, very dry chocolate and espresso grounds. Some vanilla from the wood tannin. Really just a fairly lean bodied and bitter stout. Doesn’t do a whole lot for me. DocLock (10652) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 3, 2007
Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid dark brown pour with 2-fingers of khaki head. Aroma of roasty dark malt, chocoff, hops, molasses, some funky notes, and some mild assy latexy aroma. Tastes dark malty, with dark choc, coffee, brown sugar, almonds, and blackstrap molasses. Fairly dense palate that stays malty and dark oatmealy chocolatey throughout.

Tasting at Holiday Beerfest in Omaha: Pitch black pour; nice off white head. Malty aroma with roasted nuts in here too. Sweet oatmeal flavor with malty chocolate in the background. Bitter finish...not much note of the oak however. Overall a good drink! adrian910ss (2572) - Doylestown, PA, USA - DEC 1, 2007
22 oz bomber. Pours a cola black with a creamy medium sized beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal, baking chocolate, and cola. Taste is of roasted malts, bitter baking chocolate, oatmeal, nuts and a very slight hint of oak. Not a bad stout, but lacking the oak flavors. CheesedMan (555) - Saint Cloud, Florida, USA - DEC 1, 2007
Pours an insanely dark black-brown color. Small tan head forms and then fades away all too rapidly. Aroma is roasted, with some unsweetened coccoa, smoke, an occasional whif of leather, and a slight raisin component. Maybe the slightest hint of vanilla, an a kiss of the oak. The flavor is a bit muted up front, but finishes with a decent roasted flavor. Needs a touch more body, it just seems a bit lean on the palate. rocbyter (2119) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - DEC 1, 2007
Coffee and fruity malt aroma. Very dark brown color with a small dark tan head. Initially smooth then quickly turning bitter. Finishes with a smoky wood bitterness. Average stout palate. axilla (962) - New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 30, 2007
