Hazy dark chestnut. Straightup fudge & coffee nose. Somewhat light "foreign" body with vague icing sugar sweetness. Very nutty. A little underwhelming. TBone (17581) - Pori, FINLAND - DEC 31, 2009

Draft @ Oakquinox 2013. Dark brown in color with a khaki head. Some oak, lots of roasted malt, coffee, and a fair amount of ash. Some dark fruits, a lot of grass, and water. Bitter flavor of roasted malt and ash. Coffee, mild cocoa, charred oak, and grass. Pretty mediocre. bhensonb (15242) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 29, 2008
Bottle. Aroma of dark toasted malt, could be some coffee, chocolate and oak. It’s a strong aroma. Near opaque brown/black color with a decent tan head. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. It has an oak bite to go with dark toasted malt, and a touch of coffee. Finishes dry, slightly astringent and a little woody and bitter. Leaves the mouth a bit stunned. It’s pretty good.

Bombert poured a clear black with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, carmel, nuts, roastiness, dark chocolate and hints of oak and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastiness, chocolate, coffee and a hint of oak with a smooth roasty finish.Tmoney99 (14497) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 13, 2007
Decent stout but WAY over priced.
Bottle from Party Town. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth dry texture. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 12, 2008
(22oz bottle) Very dark brown topped by persistent and slightly rocky tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee/roast, fudge/milk chocolate, confectionery sugar. Taste is roast/coffee, some nut/salty, cocoa/chocolate, earthy, light wood. Some earthiness, but most of the bitterness is from the coffee maltiness. Smooth medium body, no sign of alcohol. A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, light metallic notes, dark fruits and molasses. In mouth, a sweetish bitter chocolate, coffee, vanilla, not a lot of wood, rich and smooth. Tasted with Diogene, ProbstK and Mike H., April 10 2010. 22 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA, opened 6/14/10. Pours a dark brown color appearing an opaque black in the glass. Medium head with good head retention and lacing. Fairly assertive oak on the aroma long with roasted malts, caramel, soy, butterscotch. The taste is big peppery wood notes, roasted malts, chocolate, a bit of caramel, and a leafy hop finish. Medium bodied. Fairly decent.
