Ontap at Old Chicago Westminster poured a clear dark brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, vanilla, ligt burnt carmel and light roastiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, mint, light roastiness and light toffee with a smooth lingering dark chocolate finish.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and sweet chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew that met my expectations.

Tap in Fort Collins. Pours a deep black appearance with a cola-like foamy head. Roasted chocolate malty aroma. Roasted and very chocolatey flavor. Creamy mouthfeel and a strong chocolate but not overly sweet finish. Surprisingly pretty good.

Draft @ Dutch’s. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma has sweet milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla with light roast. The flavor has some nice chocolate, light roast and hints of vanilla. It comes off as being too thin and the finish is a bit soft. Decent, but could use more body.

onceblind (9708) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 31, 2011
Sampled at Denver Winter Brewfest 2011. Dark brown pour with a lovely chocolaty aroma with a healthy dose of roasted malt. Taste is spot on with what you’d expect. It’s like a beer version of yoohoo, but not as milky or creamy. This one has some promise of being a new release from the Boulder boys.

Pour on tap at old chicago is dark brownish black with nice creamy tan head, aroma has big notes of chocolate, vanilla, some slight espresso and mocha notes, hints of caramel and slight roast. Taste is really nice and big into chocolate, lots of milk and dark chocolate and even some cocoa powder, goes into a hint of vanilla and caramel, finishing fairly sweet. Impressive flavors in this one!

shigadeyo (3740) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2013

5/04/2011: Boulder Black Diamond Chocolate Porter... Aroma: Roasted malts, coffee candy. Appearance: Medium Coffee brown color, looks opaque in the glass, thin beige crown. Flavor: Thin, watery, and sweet, lots of vanilla and tootsie roll like chocolate, light roastiness (mostly in the finish) and cocoa nibs with some herbal hops. Palate: Medium body, really soft and falls off quickly. Overall: Weak, watery, and disappointing.

Draught (5.5% ABV) at Dutch’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #18 for this beer.

Draft at Old Chicago, Southgate. Pours a dark brown color with a 1 cm head that lingers a good while. This smells almost exactly like chocolate milk. Taste is very much like chocolate milk too with just a touch of light roasted malt. Medium body and creamy mouthfeel. Really good beer for fans of chocolate milk.

jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - DEC 3, 2012
Draft at Ol Chi Rockford. Pours black with a good bit of dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate milk with a hint of coffee. Pretty sweet stuff, but not so sweet that I couldn’t drink it all night...because I totally could.

tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - DEC 14, 2011
on draft and pour dark brown with nice head. the lacing lingers on the glass all the way through. the aroma of chocolate vanilla caramel and light coffee are just so nice and sweet nicely balanced. the flavor is of the same the chocolate comes through and the vanilla rides the coat tails with the coffee bringing up the rear...very good. medium bodied beer that is a great seasonal.
