Very nice dark brown color, medium sized tan head that lasted for some time then faded to leave a nice lacing behind.Malty, chocolate aroma with a mildly sweet side and also a hint of bitterness as well.malty chocolate taste with a slight coffee tone to it mildly sweet, with the after taste being chocolate and bitter sweet.I kind of liked this brew and i'm glad i have 5 more to sample for later it's a nice addition to the brew experience. Clear and deep dark brown/black with burgundy highlights -- with a bright enough light. Thin tan head with oily lace. Cola-like carbonation, only a little softer. Big coffee flavors exude, along with some sweet chocolate. Healthy hop presence, providing some "zinginess" near the finish, as well as a little bitterness. Has a hint of smoke also. Overall, far from my ideal porter, but nevertheless enjoyable to drink. beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - AUG 7, 2003
Pours dark brown, settles solid darkish brown/black with slivers of dark amber poking through the sides and bottom. Hefty light brown top sits thickly and tight like the surface of a unweathered moon about an inch high and crumbles down fairly fast to a skim and the lacing in thin sheets eventually breaking into some spots. Aroma of roasted malts, somewhat subdued richness with a touch of cocoa and tang; a lost in space faint nose mostly. Taste loses some gravity with very mildly roasted malts with a bit of dark fruity tang and is over pretty fast. One dimensional and not much to it I'm afraid. Notes of cocoa and very limpid light hops subside within. Feel is smooth, light and creamy, close to medium body but thin in most aspects. It does have a good porter style drying that lightly lingers in the finish which helps create a bit of weather on this barren porter plantet. This planet looked to be in orbit at first but became eclipsed by a dull and average gravity that holds nothing down. This planet swings out of orbit and needs some kind of galactic help to bring it back. whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2003
Ruby-black with a tan head that mostly diminished. Aromas of mocha and some smoke. Dark chocolate, coffee, plus some hop flavors. Lacks complexity. Palate is light and thin. An average microbrewed porter. JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - APR 28, 2003
Dark brown with a somewhat tan head. Dark malt aroma with some vinous, cocoa undertones. Initial maltiness followed by some sour mash flavors that continue through to the finish. Grainy/husky driness also in the finsih. This one really doesn't make me want to carry anything.

Nothing special, however it is a nice solid porter. Tasted, poured, and looked just as it was supposed to be. cb (810) - Roeland Park, Kansas, USA - JAN 6, 2003
Seemed light for a porter. The chocolate and coffee fought each other and neither won. I wish there would’ve been a little bit more hops to add...something. grant (842) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - JAN 4, 2003
Black with short-lived tan head. Aroma has a wierd pseudo-metallic funk that I do not care for at all. Flavor is creamy semi-sweet chocolate with a smoked coffee aftertaste. Thin, quickly dissipating sweetish aftertaste. A weak, thin porter with no outstanding qualities and a funky odor and taste. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - DEC 14, 2002
Eclipse black color, small head. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. A lighter bodied porter. Chocolaty flavor, some bitterness. Not very hoppy and lacking in body for a porter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Duffbeer (192) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 13, 2002
Not a bad porter. Fairly light for a porter.
