Using European pilsner malt and malted wheat as a base, American Kölsch is bittered with Magnum hops and features herbal, citrusy and spicy notes from end of boil additions of Tradition, Saaz and Saphir. Pouring golden in color, the aroma is of bready malt punctuated by a slightly minty hop character. With a light to medium mouthfeel, American Kölsch delivers a honey-like malt sweetness that gives way to a crisp clean finish with a touch of lingering citrus/herbal hop flavor.

Boulevard American Kolsch - Yeasty lead off rolling into nose from foam sounding like a crowd doing the wave, softer then louder, or maybe i was just moving the glass closer and further away from my head. Dark yellow to light gold color. Full of sweet and fairly neutral malt. Not fruity nor hoppy. Pretty simple, not much hop finish, keeping it kind of wet, like drying off in shower with a damp towel or a hound sized dog nose. Thanksgiving morning, after gathering herbs from yards around the neighborhood. Glad to find so much sage, especially the ample sized bush in front yard, after spending $2 on some at HEB. how much money is wasted on unnecessary purchases? Like car parts you end up not using, or clothes you never wear or somehow lose. How do i manage to lose so many shirts? I pour some out for all the shirts i’ve lost over the days. Picked this up at Specs at Domain, first time in there, after passing by the other day, tempted to go in, but refrained, always good to save a buck or two, helps balance out those aforementioned losses. Took it to Dugans, for monday night sliders and jam, but did not bring all of em in, as people just grab beers out of fridge there, (as they also took bottle of bourbon on china cabinet as community and saw almost half of it disappear that night. This multi pack was a good investment and I want to buy another, both to try this again, in a horizontal tasting. Wet like summerskin, gold like morning light coming in between tree branches and into window through open blinds. If you want to know what yeast in beer smells like, crack open one of these. Guy lazing in hammock on label, one of the brewers, lacing on the recipe and technique. American kolsch indeed, a bit dialed down from a true kolsch. https://www.boulevard.com/beerinfo/americ

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Grainy nose with some faint honey notes. Clean with a grainy quality on the palate. Sweet with a touch of herbal hops at the end. Not a bad kolsch; easy drinking.

Aroma of corn, baked bread and a little caramel. A wonderful sweet yet dry taste with a pleasing long, mildly sweet finish. My favorite summer beer this year (hey, it was still in the 70s today so I could finish off the sixer!). A great beer. Poured from a can.

can. Pale golden with one finger head. Light body, grassy. Very clean with a nice hoppy kick in the finish. Very good for an unappreciated style.

Draft at the Handlebar. Dark-ish golden with small creamy head. Grainy, malty aroma. Taste is true to form, right on target. Bready, malty, mild sweetness. Small crisp bite at the end.

Draft @ Boulevard Beer Hall - Pours clear gold, white head. Fruity and slightly metallic, not bad!

Sampler at Boulevard Beer Hall. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Grassy on the nose. Kinda Dry on the tongue though there's a bit of a honey thing.

Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro. How: Pint pour on tap. Appearance pours a light copper body, slight orange hue, one finger thick white head, perfect amount of retention, not much lacing. Aroma is mineral, cracker, biscuit, touch of pumpernickel, floral. Straight kolsch, and very clean yet aromatic nose. Taste is cracker and biscuit, light honey, touch of floral bitterness on the backend. Palate is lighter-medium bodied, good carbonation, refreshing and crisp. Not particularly sweet or bitter on the backend. Good kolsch, nice American example. This beer is definitely worth a try, very good kolsch and I don’t even really like the style usually.
