3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark, coffee black/brown with a frothy tan head. Light on aroma though notes of roasted malt certainly come through. A medium level of bitterness with the coffee and malt flavors are quite satisfying, though a bit dry. A medium body with lively carbonation feels lightly thick/creamy in the mouth. Overall, a fine porter I find suited best for cold winter months served at room temperature.
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2018 12 oz bottle from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, earthy hop bitterness, dry, nice robust porter. UnicornBrewing (39) - - DEC 6, 2017
Bully Porter - Foam is the strong silent type pushing a bitter hop roasty malt combo into face. Desert issue tan color foam. Coffee, dry dark fruits flavor it and would make a nice trail mix seasoning. Perfectly roasted flavor, like something people would stand in line for if it were a bbq restaurant offering. Slight hops keep the punch above the belt. One of the best of the multi pack. 12floz bottle, BBD: 02..02.2018, $1.25 unit cost as part of a BLVD sampler, nonic glass. On the a huge head forms, which settles with a plateau shape atop a dark brown body with ruby hues when held to the light. The aroma as expected showcases a gritty roasted character with essences of earthy hoppiness. I used to find this beer overly roasted for a porter, but for this review I find it merely to be part of the robustness without being too much. The charred aspect seems tempered. Now it tastes merely like buttered toast that is not quite burnt. Body is medium-full, and it is a decent option if options are limited for normal ABV dark ales in a given situation. Poured from 12oz bottle(best by Jan 5, 2007) a very dark brown with a large head of foam that shrank slowly and ended up being a solid 1" layer for the entire session.
The smell is a mix of roasted and sweet malt.
The taste is big on the roasted malt with a good presence of sweet malt, chocolate, and some nice bitter hop notes near the finish to balance this Porter out really well. That makes out for some excellent drinkability in my book! ;^)
Bottom line: I *love* this Porter. I highly recommend it!!
Man, I really do love this offering by Boulevard

Sampler at Boulevard Beer Hall. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice roasted malt notes on the nose and tongue along with some grapefruit notes. Finished with some solid bitterness. MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JUL 12, 2017
Draft @ Brody’s. Pours a clear ruby red beer with a nice brownish head on top. Aroma has roasty coffee notes, some milky chocolate and some red fruits. Flavor is mildly bittersweet, hints of the coffee and softer chocolate. A bit of a thin mouthfeel, very low in carbonation and the chocolate tones come back in the aftertaste. Nice in balance, very easy to drink and full in flavor. Nice. gormio (78) - FINLAND - MAY 21, 2017
Tumma väri, paksu vaahto. Maltainen, savuinen tuoksu ja sama jatkuu maussa. Oikein hyvä tuote. dutchdarthvader (374) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 18, 2017
(Tap) De geur van chocolade en koffie. Donker biertje. Met fijn en licht koolzuur. Proeft zoals die smaakt naar koffie en chocola met een bittertje. Verrassend gezien het lage alcohol percentage. Top :-) kevinator63 (36) - California, USA - MAR 27, 2017
Dark and ominous, like a porter should be. Flavorful, malty, silky smooth. A most excellent offering, bottle from my cellar. I would like morr.
