While Boulevard is one of my favorite breweries, I didn't much care for this beer. It's a fairly boring beer lurking beneath some coffee aromas and flavors. It just doesn't come together for me. drjay44 (3888) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JUN 16, 2013
750 ml. corked and caged bottle, batch 2013-3, BBD 10-2013. Pours a medium, well retained, light beige head, with slight lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 22) body.....nose is coffee, light toffee, hints of cinnamon....taste is coffee, hints of cocoa, light toffee/caramel sweetness, with hints of lactose, finishing with a coffee dominated bitterness......mouth feel light of medium, mild astringency, alcohol hidden!, carbonation adds to a clean finish. This is a nicely balanced beer, with the bean, malt, hop backbones all coming together quite well. The only possible flaw is the light palate, but that may have been the alcohol subtly hidden. Dark brown coloured body with a large, five centimetre tall deep tan and light brown head. Aroma of pure coffee cherries with a very pungent earthiness coupled with some subdued caramel and toffee sweetness - but this one is all about the coffee/hull. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive earthiness and deep bitter coffee flavour with some alcohol bite and a touch of caramelised sugars on the finish. Aftertaste shows a good balance of coffee bitterness and sweetness with a lot of earth notes tucked in. Overall, a good and very representative beer with a ton of coffee hull/cherry flavour with a bit of brewed coffee notes and a bit more of the caramel and sweet flavours noticeable. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Crystal City Wine & Spirits in Arlington, Virginia for US$12.99 on 30-April-2013 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 15-June-2013. dhunter151 (590) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - JUN 15, 2013
Pours dark brown with a tan head. This tastes like burnt, old coffee. Light mouthfeel.

Bottle at Beercraft tasting in Rohnert Park. Smooth tart coffee aroma, fruity and vanilla-y, sweet lactose, cappuccino. Definitely tends toward the sugary milky coffee style than the straight espresso side.

750 ml bottle via local STL trade. Pours a deep coffee brown with a massive rocky beige head that takes a while to settle into a small ring. Aroma of coffee, cocoa beans, earth, dark fruits, earth, nuts, and toast. Flavor of old cold coffee, nuts, toast, dark fruits, rye spice, and earth. Light-bodied, with minimal carbonation and a palate that starts smooth and dries up late. Pretty odd beer, maybe with a slight carbonation issue. Not bad, though. Bottle. Pours with a hazy brown hued body with a large tan head. Aromas are of coffee, estery, earthy, nutty, fudge, currants, raisins, medium malt. Flavors are of coffee, raisins, estery, fudge, coconut, medium nutty and toasty malt. Slightly spicy. Very very lively carbonation that seems out of place, dry, low body, almost a bit acidic. Tap at the Hay Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13.
Mahogony brown with a good sized tan head.
Nose carries a big espresso burst, coffee cake, sugars.
Taste comprises coffee cake, tirimasu, brown bread, biscuit, dark caramel, demerara sugar.
Medium to full body with fine carbonation, sweet finish.
Decent stuff, a little over sweet but I’m a sucker for coffee infused beers! Alcohol is well integrated. kevinator (2860) - The Colony, Texas, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Good but not as good as I hoped. The aroma was definitely of coffee but with a strong malty presence. The color is like iced tea with a small head. The palate is the best part with a heavy feel that comes across as creamy. Lower level carbonation. Anything more would detract. The coffee flavor doesn’t translate as much as I would have expected because there was a lot more going on. Heavy malts with a sweetness. The rye added a little spice and it finished with a boozy tang. Good but not what I expected. A little acidic. tastybeer (1853) - Indiana, USA - JUN 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours dark ruby with a large tan head, little retention/lace. Aroma of green coffee, chocolate, roast, vanilla. Taste is green coffee, bell pepper, chocolate, roast. Palate is a bit thin, slick, light bitter finish.
