COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africa’s Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

Bottle... Clear burnt-orange pour with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma is a blend of medium-roast coffee, toffee and vanilla. Medium-bodied with airy carbonation. The Flavor is mainly of coffee and is lightly acrid. Balanced nicely, it’s bittersweet. Finishes acrid, mildly sweet and slightly tongue-numbing (like Novocain). Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

Amber pour, white head. Flavors of coffee up front, hops, smooth oat flavors, spicy rye, hints of sweet sugary notes at the end. Pretty good stuff. I prefer the chocolate though.

Bottle @ Casa de Greg, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Holy fucken balls, the foam is out of control on this slut. No apparent sign of infection in the nose. Hazy brown appearance. Slight metallic, cola, caramel, a bit sweet, lightly roasted coffe aroma. A bit twangy, milk chocolate, mocha, light coffee, earthy, creamy flavor with a soft yeast presence. Pretty good but not as good as some of their releases.

marcus (10337) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 10, 2013
Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pour reddish brown with a modest tan head and a coffee aroma. There is a roasty rye flavor with a carbonated and bitter coffee finish. Very complex.

phaleslu (10333) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 12, 2013
750 ml bottle via local STL trade. Pours a deep coffee brown with a massive rocky beige head that takes a while to settle into a small ring. Aroma of coffee, cocoa beans, earth, dark fruits, earth, nuts, and toast. Flavor of old cold coffee, nuts, toast, dark fruits, rye spice, and earth. Light-bodied, with minimal carbonation and a palate that starts smooth and dries up late. Pretty odd beer, maybe with a slight carbonation issue. Not bad, though.

750mL thanks to DedicatedToFun! Murky deep brown to mahogany pour. Thicker latte foam. Huge lacing. Nose is softer coffee latte, rye bread. Taste is biting, richer dark bread, whole wheat, and no green coffee. Overall pretty solid.

onceblind (9869) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2013
Hazy dark amber with no head. The nose smells of stale cold coffee. Thankfully the flavor has a bit of chocolate and roasted malt biscuitiness, as well as a firm touch of coffee throughout, unfortunately the coffee note is the same as the aroma but not as off putting; like room temperature coffee gone stale.

arminjewell (9688) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 17, 2013
Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Jay! Dark reddish pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of lots of roasted coffee bean, hints of roast, chocolate, nice caramel, toffee, hints of earth. Taste is a mix of slight coffee, hints of roast, toffee, hints of grass, slight burnt caramel, finishing fairly bitter, slightly roasted. Kind of disappointing.
