750ml bottle. Murky amber brown with a foamy beige head. Aroma of toffee, dates, alcohol, bread and a light mustiness. Flavor is malty toffee and caramel with raisins, alcohol heat and a light tartness. Medium body with a long, dry finish. Pretty nice beer, lots of malt and fruitiness with a light tartness. jcr (2692) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - APR 21, 2013
750 ml. Brown body with ruby highlights. Frothy, off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain, ash, roasted malts, chocolate, apple and toffee. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic, with a tartness in the end. Medium body, watery texture that turns syrupy in the finish, lively carbonation. Its flavors are muddled and you mostly remember the sour apple, vinegar, cardboard, alcohol. Just not working very well. Handypaul (550) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - APR 18, 2013
Bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head that reduces quickly and leaves a bit of lacing. Smells of bread crust, spruce, maybe some citrus. Has a lightly bitter, medium sour taste with a light to medium body. Flavors of nuts, with vague hints of toffee. Lively carbonation and an astringent bitter finish. Sourness overwhelms the other flavors.

2012 Bottle. Pours with a murky deeper brown/bronze hued body with a large and retentive lightly tan head. Some lace. Aromas are of caramel, burnt caramel, baked bread. Mild esters, some metal, chocolate, tobacco. Earthy, woody, pencil shavings. Damp leaves, unsweetened banana bread. Flavors are malty, nutty, woody, with a light acidity. Lots of tobacco, damp leaves, baked bread. Caramel, brown sugar. Mild earth. Nutty (almonds). Long duration. Very subtle acidity. Medium dry finish despite the maltiness. Some light earthy tannins. Mild esters, chocolate covered banana. Very full carbonation, fuller bodied, warming. A touch underwhelming. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAR 31, 2013

There is also a bit of toffee and some alcohol in the flavor, as well as a little bit of earth. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Sampled at Raleigh Rare and Vintage 2013. Clear brown pour with ring of nearwhite head. Notes of apples and oxidation,a little spice, a little woody. Pretty much just a brown ale to me. Meh. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - MAR 22, 2013
Bottle; Pour is murky brown / copper with an average khaki head in this glass; it retains on the average side, with some very light lacing present in this glass. The nose is light sour, sweet bread, toffee, hazelnuts, brown sugar, and toast here - with some fruit esters present. The flavor profile is at first burnt toast, brown sugar, toffee, more fruit esters, roast notes, wood, leather - but unfortunately the flavor profile is muted and thin here. Bittering hops, more fruits, more meh. It had a lot of elements and I found them messy and ultimately a bit disappointing for what Iíve come to expect out of this brewery overall. gregwilsonstl (2466) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 20, 2013
Dark amber copper. Little head, alot if lacing. Pretty good at first. A lot of caramel. Way too hot of a finish.
