COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2012 650 ml bottle courtesy of soonah. Thanks John. Pours an opaque black color with a medium tan head that has fair retention. The aroma is earthy with dark fruits, coffee and roasted grains. The flavor is robust with burnt notes, coffee, mocha, biter walnuts, prunes and dark rye bread. The palate is full and malty with lively carbonation. The finish is long with lingering biter roasted grains. Overall: I havent had a stout in a while and this fit the bill quite nicely, I was really in the mood for this. Re-rate 0n 3-28-2012, still great, bottle from freehafe. thanks.

Piana bardzo obfita, drobna, trwała. Barwa mahoniowo brązowa, nieco za jasna. Aromat to kawa zbożowa, suszone śliwki, zioła, karmel. Goryczka niska do średniej, tytoniowa, palona, ziemista, ładnie ukryty alkohol.

Bottle I brought back from S.D. Pours a nice black. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Flavor is awesome, rich and smooth, like roasted espresso loaded with dark bitter chocolate and kinda sweet. The alcohol is well hidden among the massive flavors.

A very serviceable IS, bottle share from Ron, last we tried so I missed any complexity that may have been here. Drinkable, nothing off about this, licorice, smokiness and dark chocolate. Gritty / roasted / toasted, a bit of booziness. Seemed standard.
