COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our version of an unusual, yet resurgent, beer style. It pays tribute to the pleasantly sour, slightly salty wheat beers that originated in Goslar and became popular in Leipzig, Germany around the late 1800’s. A great introductory sour beer, Hibiscus Gose receives coriander and sea salt during boiling, then we steep dried hibiscus flowers at the end to create a vibrant pink hue (really, though, it’s pink!). The result is a tangy, sweet and sour ale with a refreshing citrus character.

Taste: tropical fruit, hibiscus floral notes, coriander, semi sweet/sour, and may have a bit salt in finish. Nose is floral and mellow. Amber/Peach hue, mostly clear, tall head with nice tight bubbles in the foam. Medium/lite body.

Sampled on draft at Hugo’s this beer poured a light pink color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was tart, citric and dry. The flavor was tart, bitter, dryish and herbal with citrus and a bit of astringency. Long citric finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

From tap @ ADT. Pours clear reddish-gold with a thin off-pink head. Nice sour nose with fruit and spice. Flavors are tart and juicy with light sour and light salt. Plenty of carbonation. Punches above its weight.

Bottle. Poured a rose wine in the body that was mostly clear, with a small white head, average retention. Faint floral notes on the aroma and salt. Taste is mildly salty, again faint floral notes. Medium thin body with good carbonation. Easy to drink and refreshing.

Bottle sampled in a glass, this beer was a clear gold in the glass with a faint red hue, the pour gave a white and faint off-white cover, some nice lacing, the aromas were wheat, faint berry fruit with a floral note (hibiscus), light wheat/malt with a bread note, malt and fruit sweetness, there was a salt-wheat aspect to the nose, it had a light flavor of sour fruit, a hint of raspberry, light wheat, a little fruit like sweetness, there was a sourness at the finish to give some dryness on the tongue, the mouth feel was light, it had soft to average carbonation and it had a bit of creamy feel on the lips, the nose reminded me of a fruit ale, the flavor a light sour fruit beer, it was an ok drink.
