THE Sour and Saison tasting. Hazy amber beer, little pale tan head. Smooth palate, a little dry and soft. Cherry vinegar sourness and a little lemon acid. Not too severe but could not drink much of this!
Bottle at THE Sour and Saison Tasting, London. Pours hazy, brown-gold with a light, white foam head. Some sweet, bready malts in the nose, light tang. Medium sweet flavor with some vinegar character, light leather and ripe berries. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately dry to finish with light warmth, some more leather, brown bread, light vinegar, berries. 750mL bottle, pours a hazy orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour red fruits, a little vinegar, wood tannins and fairly prominent bourbon barrel presence. Flavour brings out a bizarre combination of sour and bourbon qualities- don’t think I’ve ever had a bourbon barrel aged sour- with notes of vinegar, soured fruits, light acidity, and then the bourbon shows face. Not the best combination of flavours, as I don’t think the bourbon complements the sour qualities. Quite boozy and difficult to drink very quickly. Decent stuff.

Hazy amber in color with a tall off-white head and high carbonation. An interesting nose. Raspberry, lemon, grass, and leather. A bit of oak and red wine vinegar, maybe some alcohol. The flavor is somewhat acetic and extremely dry. Lots of leather and oak, a bit of grass/straw, and some red wine vinegar. Lightly fruity with some lemon zest and berry notes. 750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, citrus, barnyard funk, bourbon, oak and light vanilla. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of carmel, citrus, barnyard funk, bourbon, oak and light vanilla with a crisp dry tart lingering funky bourbon finish. Bottle thanks to Leighton at THE sours & saisons tasting (part 1). It pours deep cloudy red, with a thin off-white head. The nose is jammy fruits, cherry, vinous, wood, earth, fresh coconut and almond. The taste is cherry jam, lemon, pithy grapefruit, pomello, mouth-puckering tartness, some alcohol heat, vinous aspect, faint vanilla, leather and wood, with a dry, pleasantly tart finish. Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with paper thin off white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is cherry, funk, and wood. Thin mouthfeel with a strong tart and leathery malt with nice sour finish. Easy to drink hiding the alcohol well. A very impressive sour ale from Boulevard.
