Bottle @ THE Sour and Saison Tasting. Cheers to Leighton for the pour! The pour’s a deep reddish amber color with a medium head. The nose is herbal hop, garden patch, some ketchup and sea salt. The taste is mild balsamic reduction, bramble, some raspberry bakery tart. Mild sugary cookie. Medium acetic tartness on the long finish. Medium body, active carbonation. Overall, pretty solid work.

750 thanks to Holly. I’m pretty sure I smelled this year’s ago on a tour. Cherry and vinegar. A nice brown tartness to this beer. Some red grapes. A bit of that so called leather in nose. Very nice.

750, corked and baled. For once, the commercial description actually gives you a pretty clear idea of what to expect in the glass once you pour. Murky, floaty-rich dark amber with toffee bright edges. Loose gray rim around the sides of the glass. Nice woody vinous nose with a bit of cherry in there. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Green olives, wood, funky cherry, and some brightly acidic red wine on the mid palate. Tart and tangy finish. Good stuff.

Bottle (multiple). Pours with a hazy golden hued body with a small white head. Aromas are bretty, funky, grainy, unripe fruits, olive, huge oak, wine, cherries. Flavors are tart, and big, dry, vinous, oaky. Very warming, wine, tannins, cherry and leather. Lively carbonation, warming and dry.

750 ml bottle picked up at Cardinal Liquors (Joliet, IL). Excited to try this one.. Was surprisingly hard to find. Pours a richer ruby copper amber hue. Good haze, good glow, and mellow copper glowing edges. A frothy offwhite head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas offer a touch of sweetness, mellow oak and whiskey, some sour cherries, gentle lactic lemon grow, kisses of brett. Initial is medium bodied, kiss of thickness with a lighter body. Cherry, lemon, and a good sourness despite that "dirty" nose. Richer sour kick up front, as the middle gives souir cherry and lemon, gentle vanilla, oak. The beer totally transforms from the nose.. Less sweet sticky malt elements, with good tart/sour elements. Very good beer, good flavors, nose can be a bit offensive. Solid offering, good dark fruit. Nice, aside from the nose.

Clear amber color with ivory head. Nice sour cherry, bretty, lemon, caramel aromas. medium body with average co2. Mild to medium sour citrus, cherry flavors with caramel, barnyard piss and dung--good

5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Bottle:   Amber, a little fiery, moderate to large frothy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Tart nose, soft unripened fruity notes, fairly strong, funk, lacto, brett, all sorts of goodness.   A bit more muted on the tongue, tart, bretty, with unripened fruit nose.   The barrel aging is minor, albeit comes out a bit more as it warms.   Finish is dry, with unripened fruit, and brett.   Pretty simple, but clean, enjoyable... not sure if its worth the $20 price tag tho.

Backlog. Small taste of a 750 ml bottle last Saturday night. Funky, sour and fruity with a light mustiness. Held up pretty well.

Corked bottle and served in Duvel snifter: Pours a reddish amber hue with a fading had and minimal lace. The nose has plenty of lactic sour’d notes along with some developing barnyard funk, over-ripened cherries and biscuit, milk chocolate and caramel malt notes. My biggest issue with this brew is the phenols and a noticeable rubbing alcohol character. Seems the fermentation temps were off on this one. I really wished this was less aggressive and not as boozy for it would have been a very nice Flemish Red... but alas., I am very disappointed.

750 ml. bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a small white head. Aroma of fruits, malt, wood, and wine. Taste is tart cherries, citrus, wood, wine, and some chocolate. Sour mainly, but enough sweetness to make it truly enjoyable.
