Boulevard Love Child #1 is an experimental beer, part of the Love Child Sour Ales series. These beers are unreleased and still in the testing stages, so this is a rare treat. Love Child #1 is a dark ale with brettanomyces, aged for one year in second-use whiskey barrels. Rich warming caramel, tart dark fruit, and funky wild yeast notes.

This was given as a gift to distributors. Approximately 1392 bottles were produced.

Sampled at Midwest Belgian Beer Festival. Pours a hazy orangish-brown color with white head. Quite sour, woody, and a touch of bourbon in the flavor. A little sour for my taste, but not bad.

Got a bottle as gift ffrom a friend who works for Boulevard. Label says only 1300 of these were made. Pours a dark amber leathery color. Head disapates quickly . Aroma is cherry, leather barnyard funk, sour grapefruit. Taste is grapefruity to the tongue, tart, finishes with lemon peel flavors in comparison to the more avail #2, i think #2 is significantly more caramel and malty that said this one is an excellenet sour beer and hits on the tart and bitter and funkiness i like very nice ! Gotta say i like #2 a bit more though

750 ml corked and caged bottle shared by Bobby Digital. The pour is a light haze orange golden, with not much of an off white head. The aroma is bright lactic acetic sour, with nice floral character. Also present is the wood, and a sweet dark fruit. The taste is the lactic sour of the nose, along with a nice straw base flavor, and the wood and fruit sweetness are in the back as with the nose. The palate is medium bodied, sort of grainy husky mouth feel, and the sour sweet in the finish. As almost everyone else has mentioned, shocked to see 12.5% abv on this, it was not really noticeable at all. Interesting beer, really happy I had a chance to try this one. Thanks for sharing Bobby!

Poured a medium-deep mahogany colour with no head what so ever. Even the the cork being popped was silent. Funk on the nose and a very good presence of whiskey in the mouth. The desired blend of funk and hotness.

Aroma is very quadish. Sour rasin, subtle cherries, funk goes hard. Brown red with beige head. Murky floaties. Sour with good medium body. Tastes like a bbq with brett and bacteria. Tart and funky with slight cherry and acidic Tannic flavor. Bottle. thank you god. Wood in smell and flavor. Beautiful.

Bottle. Pours a murky orange-brown with fast fading tan head. Aroma is incredible, very complex notes of fruit, funk, acid, faint oak with hints of whiskey. Flavor is much the same and just as complex, very nice sourness and hints of cherry. Light-medium mouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. Outstanding!!!!!

750ml bottle - huge thanks to our local Boulevard rep for sharing this! Ruddy amber pour with very little head. Aromas of dark fruit, bourbon, oak - tart and vinous. I believe the ABV on the label was 12.5% which was crazy well hidden. This was very drinkable and had a good amount of tartness without being overpowering. Lots of whiskey, bourbon, and stone fruit.
