COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevards Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but dont we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. "Pretty aggressively sour, even cutting through the bourbon, which is also more than adequate. This is an in your face beer, but with subtleties and a ton going on nonetheless. Acidic in feel, and a bigger beer abv wise. Lemony sour and bourbon play nicely together. Definitely a memorable one. Id get this again too, though it was pretty expensive."

Bottle. Hazy red/brown body with a medium offwhite head. Aroma of cranberries, raisin, vinegar, light tartness. Taste on the more sour side with an acidic cherry and cranberry taste, mild vanilla, with a prominent bourbon touch in the finish. Getting better and better down the bottle, this is a very nice yet mild sour.

Lovely amber color with an off white head. Fresh inviting aroma. Mellow fresh sour berry fruity. Even my friend who actually not buy beer like this says: nice. Fine body and a fresh carbonation. Fine sourness together with a balanced sweetness. Balanced and nice flavor. Tasty and powerful sour fruity. Also mild vinegar, some oak and some vanilla. Complex lovely ale.

The American wild ale movement just keeps getting more and more sophisticated. This one blends barnyard and sour flavors as masterfully as the best Belgian red/browns. Great use of different yeast strains as well as the technique of blending different barrels. Unusually high ABV for the style, but you would hardly know it.
