COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevards Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but dont we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. Bottle from 02-2015 thanks to a trade with mr angrypirate06. Pours with a hazy medium hued red body and a large and mostly retentive off white head with good lace. Aromas are musty and funky with a noticeable acidity and a lightly acetic nose. Under ripe plums, tannins, oak, black cherries and some bourbon. Flavors are medium tart, bright and clean acidity with vibrant fruity notes of cherries, plums and dates. Nice tartness, medium funky notes, oak, light esters. You can feel the warmth, but any sort of alcohol taste is well hidden. Medium bodied, tart, prickly carbonation. Nice to drink. I feel like I might be underrating it a little bit.

750 ml bottle opened a bit more than one year after best before date. Have sampled this a few times previously within the BFD, but IMO the storage have just made this beer even more fantastic. Slightly unclear reddish amber body with a stable, moderate sized, dense off-white head. Aroma is wonderful smooth and complex, acidic berries, fruit, barnyard, malt, wood, light caramel and some dry fruit. Flavor is like aroma, both smooth and complex with a wonderful balance between sweet, sour, fruit, wood and funk. Nice tart fruit, sweet malt, caramel, balanced bitterness and mild funk. Fine balanced body and long lasting aftertaste with the same wonderful flavor. One of the best beers I have tasted regardless style.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity, sour nose with caramel, sour grapes, some balsamic vinegar, oak wood, dry white wine (Chardonnay?), grapefruit, barnyard, plums and apricots. Fruity, tart taste with notes of sour cherries, caramel, balsamic vinegar, red fruit, grapefruit, raspberries, oak wood and a dry and tart finish. Almost full body, dry. Excellent sour ale in brilliant balance. Lots of sour fruits, with alcohol well hidden. Brilliant stuff!

Bottle. BBY date 02/15. Pours a lovely ruby brown. Small initial head followed by a rush of fine bubbles to form a nice medium cappuccino colored head. Nose is vinous and woody. Mouthfeel is light to medium and effervescent. Taste is an explosion of fruit flavors-- tart cherry, lemon, plum, apricot, followed by oak, caramel, and a lingering, slightly boozy sourness in the finish. An exceptional brew.

Bottle. It poured a copper color with a small white head. The aroma was sweet with some caramel, cherry, lemon and oak. The taste was similar to the aroma with cherry, lemon, plum and more oak. A little sour, but still very good.

750 ml bottle, probably from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 9.5%. Hazy orange to brown colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, lemons, oak and bourbon. Sour / acidic flavour, red wine vinegar and lemons galore, also hints of oak and bourbon - an unusual combination. This must be the "whiskey sour" of the beer world.
