COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested "wet" Chinook hops.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2005 Red hazy beer with a frothy head. The nose is spruce and floral. The nutcracker is no ball buster with a sweet caramelly resin flavor. Herbal and licorice hints. A floral complex finish.

Hazy dark amber color with a minimal head. It had a warm spicy hop aroma-pine, perfume. Rich and fairly sweet up front with caramel, toffee and cinnamon flavors, pretty well hopped too. Lingering spicy finish. Good stuff!

Bottle, pours a cloudy orange-brown body with a quickly disappearing yellowish brown head. Aroma of caramel malts, molasses, and sugars with some citrus hops and spices. Taste is similar with a greater citrus/pine hop presence than in the aroma. Sweet finish with a slight lingering hop bitterness.

Poured amber with a white head. Aroma of fruit and candy. Sweet malt with some fruit.

Can’t believe it’s 7.8% ABV. Not overly malty for such high alcohol beer. Could stand to have a tad more hops .

On tap at Ridgewood (Raleigh). Pours an opaque reddish/brown with just a hint of head. Mild aroma hinting of spice and hops. Taste is very mild, almost weak, but good. Spices are not the foreground flavor like most winter/xmas ales, with hops coming through pretty strongly. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful dark copper/brown color. Nice head. Flavor was hoppy, slightly piney, and sweet. Classic beery aroma. Pretty good, but nothing really to set it apart from the other holiday ales I have tried.

Pours a dirty brown. Aroma of Christmas spices. Tastes of pie crust, cookies, gingerbread with a crisp hop bite in the finish.

Muddy water brown pour with a foamy yet soft white head. Aroma of fruity, floral hops and pine. Not much depth in the aroma. Flavors of citrus and grapefruit, perhaps a touch of toffee. Watery mouthfeel and bitter finish. I was hoping for more complexity with this offering but It seem rather one dimensional. As it warms a kiss of caramel emerges but it’s too late to really add anything. Overall, just ok.

Nice fruit and bite. One of the better holiday beers I’ve had so far. I have been happy with Boulevard beers and this is no exception. Huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh...he said nut.
