Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with two fingers of fine white head. Great retention and lots of thin lacing. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, piney, and resinous, hint of malt. Flavor is hoppy, bitter, resinous, citrus/pine up front fading into mildly bitter, malty, nutty finish. Moderate carbonation, medium body, crisp texture. A good, drinkable IPA.

Ikke veldig sterk lukt. Fin rund munnfølelse og lys gylde farge. Meget bitter i ettersmaken.

Pours a fairly hazy golden yellow with nice-sized head. Aroma is dominated by floral and fruity scents. Flavor Is a very nice, clean, hop bite with fruit accents and smooth underlying maltiness. Very smooth, clean mouthfeel with sharp, bitter finish. Very nice example of the style.

Bottle. On the lighter side of golden for the style with a medium white head. Nose is very juicy, some pineapple. The flavor bites initially with bitterness, then finishes up with mild sweetness, leaving more bitterness in the aftertaste, and leaving me wanting another sip. A nice, simplistic take on a hoppy American IPA.

Bottle from a random Vinmonopolet enjoyed at home
Copper hazy, big beige head. Smells of citrus, tropical fruits, candy and citrus zests. Taste is moderate sweet, i find mandarine and some other fruits with nice malts. Medium bitter finish, some resins and zests. Quite fruity mandarin IPA this. Quite enjoyable but a bit weak

31.12.12. Bottle. White foam, lacing all the way. Clear, golden color. Peachy hops, a bit sweet, average strength. Tastes bitter and a bit fruity. Low carbonation. Aftertaste bitter and a bit dry. Refreshing IPA; pleasant.

Pours a hazy golden body with lots of small yeast particles suspended in the liquid. Looks a bit dirty, but the amazing head saves the looks: it’s large, creamy, slightly off-white and very long-lived and leaves lots of foam on the glass. This is one of those beers that produces a new .5 cm of foam for every sip you take until the glass is empty (I guess the Sam Adams glass is partially responsible for this feat, but still). The aroma is quite intense and very pleasant. It’s of course heavy hoppy, with lots of grapefruit and ripe tropical fruits like mango, melon and peach. It’s also very sweet with distinct caramel notes. Lovely! The taste is light sweet and the finish is heavy to moderate bitter, i.e. not among the most bitter IPAs out there. The flavours are not as strong as the aromas, but there are still quite much fruity grapefruit notes in front. However, floral notes, grassy hops and resin are just as dominating. Nice flavours, although I was ever so slightly disappointed, given the wonderful and strong sweet fruity aroma. The mouthfeel is pleasant and makes the beer highly drinkable. Medium body, a bit dry texture and moderate carbonation. A tamed specimen of the IPA species, without being dull or bland.
[35.5 cl bottle, enjoyed 1 year before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Storo, Oslo]
