COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based loosely on the Smokestack Series’ The Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel is separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels where it ages for varying lengths of time, some for up to three years. Cherries are added to make up for the “angel’s share” of beer lost during barrel aging. Selected barrels are then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.

This was mediocre at best. Fizzy and light mouthfeel. Light flavors. It was a decent beer, but not anywhere as rich and flavorful as a "quad"

12 fl oz bottle from Cask & Flask in San Jose, CA. Aroma is figs, stewed plums, vanilla, charred fruits, some oak. Taste is creamy vanilla with yeasty bits, cherry, chalky dried fruit. Somehow light and tart but also heavy and leathery.

Finhead (1770) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - AUG 10, 2017
Cloudy, reddish-brown pour with a small white head. The aroma has strong plum and wood. It has a full body with smooth texture and average carbonation. The taste is sweet with slight alcohol warmth in the finish.

12 oz. bottle. Pours reddish-brown with a small beige head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, stone fruits, and sweet malts. Taste is bourbon, oak, caramel, toffee, vanilla, raisins, plum. Warming finish. Good, but a little over-zealous with the barrel.

Taste: Big robust malty, smooth, rich spiced, complex, dark bread, big bourbon boozy notes that warm the pallet . Bold woody barrel bourbon, barley malt nose. Dark Amber, unfiltered, delicate ring lace that dissipate quickly. Full body. This is to be sipped and enjoyed.

Had this beer a couple of weeks ago, it pours a very deep amber with a beautiful cream colored head. Aromas of fig, toffee, caramel and obviously, bourbon. First taste confirms aromas but if feels somewhat dry, not that it’s a bad thing. An amazing beer. I will try to find more.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2017 Dark amber with off white head and lots of year floating around. Aroma is weak but a little boozy. Taste is moderately with raisins and boozy. A bit skunky. Maybe I got a bad bottle.

Brownish-amber with a slight haze, two finger off-white head that settled to a thick film and very nice lace. Deep, rich aromas of ripe dark fruit, cherries, heavy caramel malt, earthiness and Belgian yeast with a generous contribution of bourbon. Gentle darkfruit sweetness leads the flavor profile that includes cherries, caramel malts, grassy and floral hops, and just a hint of bourbon. Full body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, very muted booziness and a finish that features the softness on the palate and the dark fruit sweetness.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is Bourbon, oak, vanilla, raisins, malt, caramel, toffee, dried fruits, figs, with a dash of chocolate and pleasant notes of cherries indeed. Flavour is sweet with a slight touch of tartness from the cherries. Some warming alcohol. Body full. Way more subtle and balanced than I expected, and I dig the cherries. Pretty good!

Flaska systembolaget. Bärnstensfärgad. Knäckig doft med tydlig bourbonkarktär. I smak känns smörkola, fat, russin, vanilj och portvin. Värmande och fyllig.
