COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based loosely on the Smokestack Series’ The Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel is separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels where it ages for varying lengths of time, some for up to three years. Cherries are added to make up for the “angel’s share” of beer lost during barrel aging. Selected barrels are then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2018 Deep red-orange pour, with lots of lively carbonation. A substantial pile of sediment settled in the bottom of the glass. Rich sweet aroma. Full body, silky smooth going down with a very nice spiciness, and a sweet ending to each and every sip. This is interesting, unique, and very enjoyable.

2015 Vintage. 750ml bottle with best before of 30/09/2017. Today, 08/01/2018. No worse for wear. Pours a hazy poppy red with brown tinges orbing the inside of the glass and a thin orange/beige cap. Smells fantastic, like an incredible dessert. Boozy with kriek like cherry notes, raisin, fig, buttery bourbon oak underneath that, and dried fruit bars. Overall, it smells like delicious fruit cake. Taste wise, thinner bodied, and much drier than I was expecting with cherry right out of the gates that fades into booziness with lots of dried dark fruits, the butterscotch of bourbon oak, light earthy notes, and faint dried cherry that heads into bigger butterscotch, oak, raisin, with light bitterness and cherry juice in the finish. This is surprisingly well rounded, and far more easy drinking than it should be given the ABV. Even given the hefty price tag, I would definitely buy this again.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2018 Rødbrun klar med fingerhøyt beige skum. Lukter først lagringen, trevirke, vanilje, røkt, bourbonen ligger der også, noe svisker og lett kakao. Middels + i fylde. Smaker alkohol, fat, bitter brent karamell, og vanilje. Lang
