1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Wish I had opened this one sooner, as it had a consume by date in August this year. Perhaps my experience would not have been as bad. Regardless, I found the aroma and taste to be almost repulsive. It brought to mind vanilla, Southern Comfort, and the orange granular material that was used to clean up vomit in schools in the seventies. There were still some Quad-like characteristics, but I’m hoping it was infected instead of simply awful. I’ve enjoyed most of the other Smokestack brews, so this was shockingly disappointing.
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2017 Dark amber with off white head and lots of year floating around. Aroma is weak but a little boozy. Taste is moderately with raisins and boozy. A bit skunky. Maybe I got a bad bottle. RedSox2004 (1895) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - JUL 9, 2017
Brownish-amber with a slight haze, two finger off-white head that settled to a thick film and very nice lace. Deep, rich aromas of ripe dark fruit, cherries, heavy caramel malt, earthiness and Belgian yeast with a generous contribution of bourbon. Gentle darkfruit sweetness leads the flavor profile that includes cherries, caramel malts, grassy and floral hops, and just a hint of bourbon. Full body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, very muted booziness and a finish that features the softness on the palate and the dark fruit sweetness. tricksta_p (4658) - Steenwijk, NETHERLANDS - JUL 4, 2017
Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is Bourbon, oak, vanilla, raisins, malt, caramel, toffee, dried fruits, figs, with a dash of chocolate and pleasant notes of cherries indeed. Flavour is sweet with a slight touch of tartness from the cherries. Some warming alcohol. Body full. Way more subtle and balanced than I expected, and I dig the cherries. Pretty good! Flaska systembolaget. Bärnstensfärgad. Knäckig doft med tydlig bourbonkarktär. I smak känns smörkola, fat, russin, vanilj och portvin. Värmande och fyllig. codeblue99 (4) - - JUN 15, 2017 does not count

Bottle thanks to Rob! Pours clear brown with a fast effervescing. Aroma is spices, bourbon. Taste is spices, slightly herbal, raisins, bourbon heat, slight oak. jspencer78 (40) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - MAY 29, 2017
Cloudy reddish with a sort of soda pop head which quickly dissipates. Quite thin on the palate but the taste is marvelous: very fruity and smooth from the cherries fading to a bit of booziness which suits the bourbon. Drinks a lot better than it looks. willisread (3349) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 29, 2017
Bottle from J’s. Pours a deep brown with a full finger of foam that lingers then dissipates. Bourbon, plum, toffee, bread and marshmallow nose. Good carbonation. Creamy smith, rich bourbon works well. Smooth, vanilla, chocolate. Nice, smooth finish with a lingering bourbon burn. Bebum (993) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 28, 2017
