12 oz. brown longneck bottle. Best before 5/18/14 on bottle neck. Slight pfftt when opened. Poured out a deep, opaque brown color, with a thin mocha colored head. Aromas are licorice, burnt malt, smoked malt. I hate smoked beer. That aside, it has flavors of licorice, anise, chalky black malt, no hops at all. Mouthfeel is decent enough, so nothing special there. Flavors are of burnt malts, ashy aftertaste. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, however.
Nothing to brag about in my book. madmitch76 (26433) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2013

Opaque black stout, thick creamy head. Smooth soft palate. Creamy dark malt. A stout of numerous subtleties. Chocolate, coffee, dark fruits. Minerals. Finishes smooth, malty and tangy. Nice and pretty drinkable.
12 oz. Bottle. Pours almost jet black with a dark tan head. Taste is dark roasted malts, coffee and spices. Abv is well balanced. Nicely done and will definately buy again.

Dark opaque beer with a nice sized khaki colored head, especially considering the abv. Aroma of dark fruits, minerals, and light smoky notes. Light roast, some slightly sweet black cherry notes, bitter chocolates. A hint of alcohol warmth in the finish. jkbachman (181) - - DEC 31, 2012
Roasted coffee, chocolate, and dark pit fruit esters present. Moderate hop aroma, but balanced well with fruity Belgian type esters. Finishes very smooth. A very good beer.

Bottle. Rich, smoky sweet aroma. Pours dark black with a rich, creamy tan head. Tastes of sweet roasted malt, dark coffee, with a slightly tangy and spicy finish. Full, slightly effervescent feel in the mouth with a nice dry finish. Definitely holds up to the name Stout. petergaynor (137) - NEW ZEALAND - DEC 30, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours jet black with a thick but dissapating coffee head. On the nose there are plenty of burnt malts with a decent offering of espresso. Taste us very bitter with a distinct belgian fruit yeastiness with heaps of spice and raisin. Smoked malts coming through strongly on the back of the palate hoffrobert (178) - Indiana, USA - DEC 27, 2012
Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Beautiful opaque black with little carbonation. Aroma is chocolate but taste is more oats, nuts and dark fruits. Smooth drinking considering alcohol content. thedm (6320) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - DEC 27, 2012
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a strong coffee aftertaste. The strong flavor contained notes of coffee chocolate brown malt and dark malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. Thisis12ptfont (1232) - Los Angeles, CA, California, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Bubbly carbonation on the nose with some faint cocoa. Solid black with a thin foam. High carbonation upfront which then reveals a plethora of raisins, molasses, chocolate, oats and toffee notes. Some raspberry, caramel and vanilla characteristics are subtle in the back along with a huge alcohol burn on the finish. Overall, this is very rich and decadent brew boasting complex flavors. I’d give this an A+ rating.
