Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a foamy beige head. Nose is dark fruits, grape skins, toffee, cocoa, roasted malts. Big and chewy, velvety, lots carbonation on the tongue, dry yet sticky finish. Flavors of light alcohol, raisins, light piney hops, maybe some grapes or cherries? Delicious. GODiSSOUTHERN (390) - Virginia, USA - FEB 1, 2012
Inky dark with nice two finger head. Huge roasted and fruity aromas. Tastes of dark and dried fruits, complex maltiness, and well balanced hop backbone. Great stuff. johno (185) - Galveston, Texas, USA - JAN 29, 2012
Pours an utter black, dark brown head, great lacing if you’re into that sort of thing. Aroma isn’t explosive, but deep and complex; dark and roasty, has an inkiness to it, dirt, black fruit.. quite dark. Quite viscous and creamy, palate-coating, with a distinct, expressive finish, balanced, bitter and sweet elements, dark chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla in the finish, delicious, finish lasts, warming but not overheated, well-made... excellent. Pours very dark with big thick three finger head. Nice big bubbles and the head lasts for a while. Smell is rich, roasty, and robust. Lot’s of coffee on the head. Bits of coco. Very sweet and inviting. Mouthfeel a bit ashy. Robust coffee flavors, as well as chocolate. Hard to pick out the alcohol. Great stout. rondphoto (4448) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Opaque black color with a good brown head and fair lacing. Taste is mostly strong roasted caramel malt. There are hints of chocolate and coffee, but not at all strong like one encounters in American strong stout. There is alcohol bittering at the finsih. Overall, a filling, but excellent brew. High recommendations.

Bottle. Aroma: Robust scent of caramel, roasty chocolate and coffee. Appearance: Opaque black, pours smooth with creamy tan head. Taste: Sweet, creamy with strong chocolate notes, also coffee and nutty notes, with a strong smoky finish. Palate: Full bodied, average carbonation, creamy texture with a long finish. Delicious stout. I drank it alone, but I can see how it would be good served over ice cream or with chocolate. A real treat. moefriedman (34) - Illinois, USA - JAN 21, 2012
Pours dark and thick as oil. Smells fantastically of chocolate and oak. Went down smooth with a great coffee, chocolate, smoky feel. Super balanced and could easily take down a 4 pack in a siting(but didn’t). annunz123 (957) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 19, 2012
Pours dark even by stout standards. Malt, coffee, and alcohol in the aroma. Malt and smoky roast in the flavor. Very creamy mouthfeel. ChainGangGuy (4894) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Appearance: Pours out a dark brown body with thin slivers of garnet at the far edges and capped by a tall, light tan head.

Smell: Moderately chocolaty with a corresponding roastiness ahead of lesser, lighter notes smelling of fruit, spice, and toast.
Taste: A start of dark chocolate, soundly roasted coffee, and with some soft, sweetish caramel included. Small pinch of aniseed. Dark fruitiness of plums and smoked dates. Very slight chalkiness. Particularly subtle German hop character and bitterness. Late-breaking alcohol presence. Dry, roasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: It’s nice. No, really, it’s nice. But, can I have the BIS instead??
12 ounce bottle. Big chocolate, roasted malts with dark stone fruit, spicy hop notes. A few hot alcohol notes. A good creamy mouth feel. A great stout.
