Bottled 330ml Arkadia. Dark opaque brown color, good steady brown head. Aroma has some cellary and tart notes, licorice and smokeyness. When warms up, more pleasant roasted aroma. Full-bodied. Roasted malty, dark chocolate, alcohol and licorice. Heavy stuff. Good but not particulary interesting strong impy. yngwie (17078) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 20, 2013
Bottle, at Bakgården Både &. It pours a small, dense, light tan head over a pitch black body. The aroma is roasted and sweetish, with coffee and a lightly piney, grassy touch. The flavor is on the sweet side, roasted and coffeeish, with some bitterness trying to bring balance. Full body, some warmth, and quite dry-ish. Lasting finish with the roasted malts and sweetness dominating. Nice. 130520 jtclockwork (16695) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 25, 2010
Bottle thanks to drfabulous. Trade with this guy. He’s awesome! Pours black with thinly retained tan head. Nose is roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, sweet chocolate, light coffee and some herbal notes. brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 22, 2010
A: The pour on this beer is really fantastic. The beer is almost black with a huge, sturdy tan head on it.
S: Where is the aroma? Really bland in terms of the nose. Even as the beer starts to warm up in the glass, all I really get is a bit of roast and a slight acidity.
T: The flavor is pretty nice. Lots of roast, licorice, coffee, and some dark chocolate. A bit of an alcohol note at times, but not surprising at nearly 10%. Fairly bitter with a slight char note from time to time, too.
M: The body is nice, a fairly high amount of carbonation for such a big stout.
D: I was expecting more from Boulevard on this beer. I didn’t think it was bad, but sort of bland and uninteresting for a big, bad, imperial stout. FatPhil (16390) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 14, 2013

Practically black, small tight tan head. Nice roast aroma, some hints of bacon. Later liquorice comes over too. Super rich roasted taste, dark toast and nice mocca burntness. Sweet, but has savoury aspects too, plenty of liquorice. Not getting the 9.7% at all, even the alcohol test doesn’t reveal much - the mellow burnt liquoricey roast covers everything Was a bit cold, so the palate was quite crisp and carbonated. I prefered this after lots of swirling. Does have some nice ale esters, but they’re most obvious in the burps! Finish is probably the best part, that roast is nice and bitter chocolatey.
Bottle [from trade with mista, thanks!] @ home. Opaque dark brown head with a slight dark red glare coming through when held into the light, average to medium sized light brown head. Aroma is malts, roast, some dark fruits. Tastes about the same: malts, roasted malts, dark fruits, somehow I get a hint of wood and slightly liquor, quite bitter as well. Medium body and carbonation. Nice one! bhensonb (15351) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 22, 2010
750 c&c from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours very black with a foamy 3 finger dark tan head. Heavy dark fruit aroma. Full bodied, creamy carbonation. First cut is tons of medium dark chocolate. Second is musty, burnt malt. Thirds is dark fruit. Kind of like washing down chocolate coated dark fruit with iced coffee. Why not? Wowser. Great stuff. djd07 (15107) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 27, 2011

Bottle in motel.... It pours black with a dark tan head. The nose is roasted malt, tar, motor oil, plum, date, red grape, wood, vanilla and wood. The taste is roasted malt, salted caramel, ash, dark fruit, dark chocolate, nice bitterness, vanilla and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Damn tasty. Flavoursome, good balance and high drinkabilty. Yum. Ratman197 (14974) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 7, 2010
