Bottle from Jane’s beer shop. Flavours of chocolate, vanilla, hints of coffee. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, very long. Zgpt (51) - Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 18, 2016
Pours black with small dark tan head. Aroma is rich and slightly sour. Deep rich deep and very slightly sour with hints of earth and smoke that do not interrupt the smooth sweet and sour overall flavor.

Dark brown opaque color with a brown head, and a caramel whiskey aroma. Feels fizzy on the tongue, and has notes of coffee whiskey and hops. Very complex flavor.

Pours BLACK with a huge, foamy froth of a head - dark brown. Smells of dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla, cherry. Tastes of deep, dark fruit, heavy chocolate, and some cherry notes (or is that just my imagination?) Outstanding.
This has become my favorite beer. MaBeer1972 (2058) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 29, 2016
Small bottle from Julio’s. Pours out jet black with a lacy tan head. Aroma of sweet plum, roasty malt, smoke and earthy woody booze. Flavor is super complex and very tasty. Layers of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel, spicy fruit, herbs and smoke. Thick and chewy body. Very impressive. Cybercat (5833) - Georgia, USA - AUG 13, 2011
Pours a rich, opaque sable with a very thick and rather persistent yellowish-tan head. Nose-filling aroma has tones of chocolate, quality coffee, fresh-cut wood and molasses along with hints of caramel and licorice. Fabulous flavor is rather sweet but not cloying, like mocha made from excellent coffee and fine chocolate. A woody overtone provides a little hoppy bitterness to offset the sweet flavor, and hints of caramel, molasses and licorice round out the lip-smacking flavor. Texture has substantial body and a fair amount of tingle, Finish is fizzy and has chocolate and woody tones. Recommended! SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - AUG 27, 2011
Pours pitch black with little, quickly dissipating brown fizz. Smells like chocolate, coffee, roasted barley, dark fruits and candy sugar. Tastes like cocoa powder, bitter chocolate, espresso, some dark fruit, and some Belgian yeast sweetness. Full-bodied with a smooth, silky texture and very soft mouth-carbonation, Boulevard Dark Truth Stout finishes bitter, a touch dry, and a touch sweet.
