Near black color; compact beige head. The aroma is surprisingly fruity, with grains, cereals, bread; lovely (8+). Smooth mouthfeel, dry; strong roasted malt flavor, the acidity from the dark malts is a bit too high; strong bitterness, but any incidental hop quality is hidden. Too much ashes in the final.
Bottle at GBBF ’14, day 1, 12/08/14.
Extremely dark mahogany brown wuth a big old light khaki tan covering.
Nose carries big roasty tones, light spice, red berry fruit, earthy hops.
Taste comprises red berry jam, pine bite, spice, light charr, cocoa rub, liqourice.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / black with a large beige head. Aroma of rye malts, dry roasted malt and citrusy hops – quite dry and bitter. Flavour brings out loads of rye, bitter roasted malt and pungent earthy hops. Quite bitter, dry, roasty and rye-dominated. Finishes dry and roasty, with a fairly large astringency. Slightly harsher than the average black IPA. Very good stuff. Oakes (17680) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 30, 2014
Kind of a muddy medium brown. Aroma is toasty, touch piney, hint of citrus, bit fizzy but with lots of bitterness. Quite bready on the malts. chrisv10 (17435) - DENMARK - AUG 30, 2014
Bottle, 7.7%. Very dark brown with big beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, hop, pine, caramel and grapefruit. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, pine, grapefruit, little sweet, little rye, coffee and medium bitter. yngwie (17053) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 30, 2014
Bottle, 75cl corked. A clear, dark brown beer with a dense, two-finger beige head that lasts. Curtains. It’s lightly piney and resiny on the nose, with roasted malts and some coffee hints. The flavor has a nice hoppy bitterness, with pine cones, resins and a nice roasted touch. Spiced notes too. Full body, semi-sweet and lightly effervescent. Lasting bitter and rosted finish with some bonfire notes. Quite nice this one, but too much on the dark malty side for my likings. 140830 jtclockwork (16597) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 17, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with off white head. Nose and taste of rye, roast chocolate malt, charred banana peel, wheat malt, cocoa, pine and resin. Medium body. Finishes with abrasive rye. Bone dry.
