750ml bottle. Aroma of roasty, toasted grains, pumpernickel bread, mild chocolate and faint dark sweetness, along with a lightly citric, fresh, fruity hop profile. Deep, dark brown in color, nearly black, with a hugely frothy, lasting, ivory head and gobs of lacing as well. Flavor begins with a mild dosage of hop bitterness, this increasing as it mingles with the toasty, grainy, very gently sweet, dark malts and spicy, fruity rye, and finishing with a blend of dark chocolate, citrus, faint pine and fading peppery notes late. Plenty of fine effervescence on the palate, with a dry and lightly resinous feel, body is medium-full. An interesting and rather subtle take on the style -- does not possess overwhelming bitterness or any truly massive, powerful qualities, seeming to aim for drinkability above all that. 750mL thanks to dfroms! Pours clear, deep ruby mahogany, medium tan foam. Rocky. Nose is savory, smokey, melon hops, fruity hoppy. Taste is tangy, bitter, spicy, dark chocolate. Thick, dense, dark chocolate. Rich, bitter, really nice. JLLSU (242) - Acworth, Georgia, USA - FEB 20, 2013
Bomber---->tulip. Pours a deep deep brown with a huge fluffy beige head and great lace. Great tropical fruit aroma mixed with some roasted malt. First thing that hits the tongue is spicy rye followed by a hop bitterness. Nicely carbonated smooth palate. Heard this one was meh, but I disagree.

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with a beatiful, incredibly persistent light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is roast and bubblegum (something I love in IPAs but not used to in BIPAs, but it’s welcome). Taste is lightly roasty but very much a traditional IPA with a nice rye spiciness. Very pleasant, but definitely a bit more toward the DIPA side than i was expecting. esp0r (2930) - NORWAY - MAY 26, 2013

Pours quite dark, black in glass, huge tanned head. Smells of citrus, peach, zests and hints of roast. Medium sweet, roast and toast, some fruityness, citrus and zests. Heavy bitter, resins and zests. A very nice black ipa, balanced on the right side, the hops plays first violin and the dark malts just fill in where they’re needed. I like it very much; one of the best Boulevard’s i’ve tried
Pours a solid black with a foamy tan head and lots of lacing. The aroma has some earthy, slightly piney hops, along with some roasted malt and a small amount of coffee. The flavor is roasted and dark malts up front with an earthy hop background leading to a balanced middle and finish over a slightly spicy but smooth mouthfeel over a medium body. ansalon (4121) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - JUN 4, 2013
Pours blackish brown with a large, rapidly diminishing foam head. Aroma is roasted grain with fruity notes along with some honey and spices. Taste is slight coffee, lightly roasted unsalted almonds, some citrusy notes. Quite subdued but well balanced!

Appearance: Pours a black opaque with light white head.
Aroma: Aroma of faint roasted malt, rye.
Taste: Light bitterness, medium right, light roast, very balanced. Accessible.
Palate:Medium body, smooth, not carbonation, lightly chewy. Really nice.
Summary: A really nice beer, particularly in the palate. Not as bitter as I was expecting, nor as rye laden in the taste, but really nice and well balanced.
Bottle shared at The Dubliner, may 24th 2013. Black body, big tanned head. Hoppy aroma, exotic fruits, grass, spicy. Taste of grapefruit, chocolate, roasted malt and rye in a delicious blend. Not quite as fruit hoppy as many black ipas, but a really good example of the style still. yespr (47567) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - JUN 29, 2013
75 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden dark amber to brown with a small tan head. Aroma is grapefruity and citrusy. Smooth fruity and toasted malty. Caramelish and crisp hoppy. Smooth fruity and bitter finish.
