Tap at Happy Gnome. Dark brown pour with a clingy white head. Spicy rye, roasty malts, and a mild grapefruit hop kick. Very nice. b3shine (8939) - Indiana, USA - APR 20, 2013
Aged 750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a cloudy brown with beige lacing. Smells solid too; bitter hops and malt. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer! tastybeer (1853) - Indiana, USA - FEB 9, 2013

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2013 750ml bottle. Pours dark ruby with subtle hints of brown. Aroma of pine, roasted grain, hay, dark fruit. Flavor of pine, rye, dried fruit, peat, touch of citrus. A crazy mix of flavors from various grains. Ernest (7721) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 17, 2013
Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, brown, fully lasting.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin).
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
I gotta say the flavor balance and mouthfeel are excellent especially considering the style...non-abrasive and clean, with the right amount of bitterness to counteract the residual sugars, and a delightful fluffy mouthfeel. Looks great too, with a large and lasting billowing head. Sadly, the nose is pretty simple and uninspiring, both in the malt and hop departments...non-offensive and reasonably pleasant, but rather mild and lifeless. With a more interesting nose, this could have been truly excellent.

Close your eyes and you would not believe this is a black IPA. Nice mouthfeel. It’s a very busy beer, lots going on. Nice whiff of rye and pine. Would have liked more aroma, however. Very nice BIPA. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 19, 2013

Bottle at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 1 - London. Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Light tangy dark malt, citrus fruits, burnt pine, bitter cocoa. Medium bodied with average carbonation. OK balance on the finish, some earthy bitterness, more cocoa. Not bad. (GBBF 2014, Score: 3.4)
Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured near black with a moderate forming tan head. Nose had floral malt. Tasted of line and floral hops, somewhat bitter but very balanced. Rye spice and bitterness was there. It worked well with hops and other sweetness and wasn’t too intruding. travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Bottle. Big head, foamy beige head, dark, brown to black in color. The smell is hoppy, pine, herbal, citrus, and good. The taste is lighter bitterness, pine, hops, citrus, and good.
