Tap. A wonderful bouquet and pours pitch black. A delicious black IPA, and like ALL Boulevard, so drinkable.

~12 oz draft pour at Waldo Pizza in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is black, with some copper hues, and a one inch light khaki head that was lasting. The head eventually falls with some nice splotchy lacing. The aroma is bright pineapple, orange fruit, soft floral notes, the rye is evident, though under the hops. There is also a bit of cracker, lightly caramel malt, though that is certainly under the hops and the rye. The taste mirrors the nose, citrus floral hops, paired nicely with the spiced rye, and supported by the cracker caramel malt. The palate is medium bodied, nice natural soft carbonation, and a lightly bitter sweet dry hop finish. Had I tasted and smelled this with my eyes closed, I would not have guessed it was a Black IPA. The dark malts certainly do not throw off any of the roast flavors I normally associate with that style. Regardless, love the interplay between the hops and the rye in this one. Tasty stuff. fargofallout (8) - Kansas, USA - FEB 18, 2013 does not count
Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Pours dark with a mocha-ish head. Not a particularly strong aroma, but what’s there is fresh. Smooth taste and not even sort of hoppy. Great beer.

I pour lightly into a Smokestack glass , but it still billows over the edge. Gotta love the carbonation on these Boulevard Smokestack brews. Pure black in color with some crimson hues. Major lacing.
Amarillo, citra, and simcoe make one hell of a nose from the moment you open the bottle. Tastes has an Interesting progression. The rye spice is up front followed by some bitter chocolate flavors. Then you get a wave of earthy and somewhat citrusy hops, rounds out with that rye spice again.
I’d hate to be in a storm raining down actual grain but anyway....Fantastic brew.
...Also, bacon and eggs make a great pairing! Though I do love bacon and eggs at any time. wlajwl (7205) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Aroma is citrus, yeast, dark malts and a hint of tropical fruit. The flavor is dark malts, tropical fruit, mild hop resin notes and a very bitter and tangy finish. Bricktop86 (935) - Moore, Oklahoma, USA - MAR 27, 2013

Bottle: Pours a very dark brown with a medium frothy tan head that is fully lasting. Sweet malty aroma has a burst of rye and pine with grain notes. Malty flavor is sweet and roasty with hints of grapefruit and fruit notes. Has a creamy texture with a spicy mouthfeel and a mild bitterness in the finish. Delicious! arnold931 (1261) - Iowa, USA - APR 9, 2014
