COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Using the base beer for Imperial Stout as a starting point, our brewers suspended just over two pounds per barrel of raw and toasted coconut flakes in porous bags in one of our stainless steel fermentation vessels. Finished, cooled beer was then transferred onto the flakes and allowed to rest for 48 hours to infuse the aroma and flavor of the coconut into the base beer. The resulting beer is a marriage of huge, round, chocolate and caramel notes from Imperial Stout, with smooth layers of sweet, toasted coconut notes. No portion of Imperial Stout X – Coconut is barrel aged.

2015 bottle. Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Chocolate and coconut aromas. Medium bodied with sweet chocolate covered pit fruit and coconut front to back. Lasting cherry and plum finish.

Vintage 2015. 750mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is quite oxidized, with subdued coconut and light roasted malt. Flavour is a bit better, with loads of coconut, light coconut and subdued toasted malt. Would be better fresh, with lots of coconut. I’ll rate generously due to the age.

750mL. 2015 bottle. So, it's unsurprisingly oxidized. The coconut isn't too bad. It's coconut like from the candy but it melds well with the stout. Flavor is mild on both. Low acidity. Low bitterness. Not bad. Wonder what it's like fresh.

25.4floz (750ml) bottle, Marked 2015 / but perhaps released in 2016 / BBD: 10.2017, $8 sale priced, large stem snifter glass. Dark in color with luscious head, and booze filled aromas of molasses and carob serve as an introduction. Coconut, brown sugar, and bakers cocoa noted on the palate. Thick, mild-moderate roasted, and the alcohol while masked does proide a warming effect. Decent, but not a stand out imperial stout.

Two year old bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a thick tan head which lingers......aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dates....taste is quite thick but slightly higher carb sort of cuts through it onto the palate, chocolate, booze, coffee, has hints of rum barrel aging though it claims no barrel aging. Quite enjoyable on a chilly evening.

Dark black pour, deep roasted notes, charred coconut and cacao. The carbonation is a bit to high for me. Strong coconut flavor

Pours a deep brownish black from the cork and cage bottle, with a bubbly tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma of big sweet vanilla and coconut tones with a nice chocolate and roasted malt base, the blend almost leading to a barrel aged quality. Taste follows, good chocolate and roast notes with an overarching sweetness and vanilla quality from the coconut, a boozy base to top it off. Impressive that nothing is barrel aged, very nice.

750ml bottle bought from bottle shop in Chagrin Falls Cleveland drunk back in UK. Poured black with beige head. Nose is rich chocolate cocoa coconut vanilla leading to a complex mix of the above with hints of bourbon and red wine. One of the best impy stouts I’ve tried. Excellent.

Aroma slight coconut and mostly booze. Dark brown black color with tan head. Sweet, with some bitter malts. Almost a fake syrup, but not suntan lotion. Bottle

tightslice (1532) - Redwood City, California, USA - JUL 13, 2017
Bottle from World Market in Redwood City, CA - 2015. Aroma is cherry liquor, licorice, coconut, flat whiskey and coke, bourbon. Taste is bitter liquor, bourbon, chocolate, coconut. Extremely surprised this wasn’t barrel-aged, lots of big, bourbon-y type notes. Love the coconut expression here, tastes natural and adds something special.
