The beer pours a hazy mahogany color with a tan head. The aroma is strong rye with some oak notes and dark fruit. The flavor is very nice with rye, cherries, vanilla, oak and a strong, spicy hops and rye finish. The alcohol is fairly noticeable. Medium mouth feel and medium carbonation. Tastes better than the smell. But a solid brew.
(Bottle) Reddish amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy beige head. Malty, spicy, vinous nose with notes of rye bread, apricots, orange peel, spicy rye aromas, caramel and rye whisky. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, apricots, raisins, rye bread, caramel, some mint, orange peel, liquorice, peppercorns, vinous flavours of rye whisky and a warming finish with a balanced spicy bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made, with warming alcohol and a generous rye character. Excellent beer! kevinator63 (36) - California, USA - MAR 21, 2017
Whiskey aroma and underlying flavor, with woodsy, hint of citrus and even a touch of heat or mild pepper. Nice change of pace for this porter/stout fan. From a bottle in my cellar, a very nice surprise, well made. Blairgus (4615) - California, USA - FEB 9, 2017

A: Redish colour with a thick offwhite head that dissapates fast N: Raisins, whiskey, bourbon, vanilla, oak, plum, figs T: Raisins, figs, dates, sherry, caramel, whiskey, bourbon O: Complex nose and flavours. A bit boozy and a bit light mouthfeel though. Anyway it’s still nice. Gluepot (722) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 11, 2017
Quite a unique strong ale. A lively off white head on a semi-opaque deep mahogany body. The nose has medium plus prominence, featuring rye grain, rye whiskey and caramel malt. The taste emphasizes spicy rye grain along with the whiskey, oak, vanilla, a solid touch of citrus hops and a hint of mint. The caramel malt is there but less strong than most strong ales. Not too slick or sticky, especially considering the high ABV.

Pours a cloudy, dark bourbon brown with a smooth, tan head. Whisky barrel come though in the nose first. Caramel, vanilla, whiskey. Mouthfeel isn’t as robust as expected. Immediately sharp and gets harsh and nearing offensive at the finish. Neither is the flavor. The rye malt Is overpowering. Some faint whiskey, caramel, and vanilla suddenly appears at and after the finish. kraddel (8901) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - NOV 7, 2016
Pours rather clear, very dark amber. Small white head. Smell is bit sweet. Taste is really boozy, Sharp, malts. Just too damn alcoholic. Bit sweet. Meh jw0406 (1305) - atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 23, 2016

I didn’t care for this that much. The whiskey doesn’t really shine through much. It just kind of makes it more alcoholic. The flavor is not that good. brigg (708) - New York, USA - SEP 2, 2016
(Bottle) Opaque, reddish brown body with small, creamy tan head. Aroma of whiskey, wood, dark cherry, semisweet chocolate. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, caramelized sugar, whiskey, vanilla, wood, yeasty, and light spices. Warming finish.
