COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison-Brett, based on our very popular Tank 7, is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy quality. Though this farmhouse ale was given three months of bottle age prior to release, further cellaring will continue to enhance the “Brett” character, if that’s what you’re after.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. 2011 vintage, Bottle #11107. Pours clear golden with floating impurities and a huge white soapy head that recedes slowly, leaving patchy lace. Aroma is awesomely bretty; smells lilke dusty old books, lemons, barnyard funk. Taste is sweet and finishes dry and bitter. Highly carbonated with a foamy mouthfeel. Smells better than it tastes, not that it tastes bad. It’s a good beer.

From a bottle poured an amber color with way too much head. Funky malty flavor with a lingering aftertaste.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque golden colour with two fingers of white head that reduces into a lasting film. Aromas of apples, citrus, green grapes, and a hint of banana. Complex taste matches the aroma with notes of earthy hops and a pronounced banana note on the finish. Lively carbonation. Excellent farmhouse ale. The best farmhouse ale I had so far.

750ml corked and caged from the lcbo. Opaque orange pour, with a large white head. Loads of brett in the aroma. Very fruity, oranges and stone fruit, light yeast, soft herbs and some tropical notes. Good mouth feel, soft carb. Finish is medium bitter, subtly sweet, bretty finish, more stone fruit, soft spice and cereals.

Super.

Pours almost clear golden, big frothy white head. A somehow weird, mineral salty aroma, intense bretts and bitter herbs. Taste is bitter and herbal, but intense. Yeasty, earthy, spicy, crispy. Post taste is bitter and full of fresh hay. Great!

750 ml bottle. Hazy golden colour, thick white head. Dryish spicy aroma with distinct sourness from the Brett, some citrus and berry notes. The taste is sweetish fruity at first, with earthy and citrus notes, and a dryish, spicy finish with sour notes and a little alcohol warmth. Delicious.

This is a really good beer. Great all the way around. Best beer I’ve had in some time.

Bottle from World Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is mild rubber, earthy strawberries, moldy peaches, attic bones. Taste is crisp, fruity tang, spicy. Wet but dusty, fresh but funky, very stylized but super drinkable. Gets better and more interesting with each sip.

Bottle (2012 #14458); pours cloudy yellow gold with a white head; aroma of yeast funk with lemon, wheat, and pepper; taste is lemony with yeast funk and some wheat notes; dry, peppery finish; really good saison

2015 bottle (a couple of months past its best by date, but who cares with this style?). This tastes like drinking a bit of history. Brett saisons are delicious, and this is definitely one of the milestones of the style. It keeps a lot of the hallmarks of a saison (more than most chart-topping mixed fermentation saisons) -- its peppery, and very effervescent, and its got a clear yeast profile that reminded me a lot of Dupont. The Brett is present, but its integrated and not overpowering. This would be a great gateway beer for people that are just getting into Brett beers.
