Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

I really loved this beer - a really great Belgian style ale - fruity, funky, malty

Pours dark copper with a creamy off-white head that dissipates to a lacy ring. Aromas of alcohol, clove and dark fruit. Flavors are dark fruit, bready notes, grass, clove, raisin. Bready and sweet. A bit boozy. Slightly sticky mouthfeel, but also peppery and lively. Delicious.

Pours a reddish brown from a bottle, cream colored head leaving creamy wall of lacing along the glass. Aroma of raisin and madeira, flavor adds clove and tobacco and some boozy candi sugar. Very good beer.

Almost clear dark amber color with beige head. Aroma has brown sugar, molasses and booze soaked dried fruits like raisins and plums. Taste starts sweet with brown sugar flavor, a bit of bitterness too, seems a bit like burnt sugar. There are also dark fruits and yeast notes. Finish is quite bitter and earthy. Medium to light bodied with medium carbonation. Overall its a well made and complex tasting beer buy I think the flavors dont combine as well as expected.

Darkish amber with a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel and dried fruit. Taste of the same with a slight warming but otherwise not too much booze. Smooth on the palate. Not up there with the trappist quads but still a good brew.

Hazy reddish amber colour, huge dense yellow head; aroma of biscuit, floral honey, orange zest and herbal-medicinal notes; taste of roasted sugar, herbal liqueur notes, orange zest oil and some dried fruits; ok beer, but very far from being a perfect quadrupel

Pours copper with a serious head. A little tart but delicious quad ale. High ABV thats very misleading with its very tasty content. Great beer for the price.

Nice, tasty, a bit boozy. Pretty smooth for high ABV. Nutty, caramel taste. Would try this one again.
