Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment thats just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard its fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

On tap @ Chucks 85th. Pours hazy light orange. Aroma is grapefruit and hops. Taste is clean grassy hops up front with funky sweet Belgian yeast on the back. A little thin, but not out of character for this style and well balanced with the ABV. A great choice if you gotta have hops but dont want the heavier malt of an IPA. This beer introduced me to Boulevard a year or two ago and Ive been steadily impressed by them. For a Kansas City brewery to get into the hyper-competitve Seattle beer market is no small accomplishment.

From the tap. Good head with banana, citrus aroma. Belgium yeast esters in your face. From other reviews I expected a bit more citrus but for me Belgium yeast came at me harder. Refreshing!

Pours with good wheat beer like foam. Aroma is fresh and has citrus, gin, banana, strawberry and flowers. Color is nice wheat beer like golden. Taste is sour wheat beer like with banana, citrus, mint or toothpaste and "sharp" hops. Its a bit too sour/bitter to my taste. Its very refreshing though and tastes like a quality beer.

Bottle. Pours lightly cloudy golden, high and stable foam. Aroma is saison yeast, spices, some grapefruit and farmhoues. Body is medium, lightly sweet, with a soft carbonation. Smooth. Soft bitterness towards the palate, which still shines with farmhouse and some hops. Dry. Good.
