"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen’s The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Very nice quad. Dark amber color with fantastic head that almost spilled out of glass and good lacing. Smells of malt and figs. Wonderful full taste. Figs and malt in taste and sweet all the way through. Alcohol adds peppery taste with just enough bitter. Complex full taste but easy enough to drink. Really liked it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home. A tad unclear amber-ish color, medium sized off-white to beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, caramel, raisins. Taste malts, raisins, some alcohol, somewhat sweet and somewhat [alcoholic] bitter. Meh, overall I could drink this yeah for sure, but I think it's quite a bad "abt/quadrupel" stylewise.

Good off-white head. Excellent lacing. Very Malty; lots of caramel, candy sugar. Very Fruity; dark fruits, raisins, plums. Spicy. Yeasty; lots of floaties. Hoppy; slight balancing hop bitterness. Some warming alcohol. Smooth. Sweet malty, fruity, spicy and yeasty throughout. Nice beer!

Malty alcohol aroma. Light, airy head that dissipates quickly. Sweet, balanced flavor of red fruits. Light-bodied.

Mild plum and prune nose. Cloudy rust, thick tan head, decent lace. Maraschino cherries, plum, new plastic. Full body, soft carbonation, alcohol well-masked. Tasty, a little lacking in compexity for the style, but quite nice.

750 ml bottle from Canada Craft Club. Pours a hazed orange/amber colour with good-sized, creamy eggshell-coloured head. Aroma is sweet with lots of fruitiness, bread, wood, leather and spicy rye. Flavour has sweet plum, raisin, strawberry, brown sugar, bread, wood, peppery rye and clove. Definite alcohol presence. Big body. Impressive.

crispaire (247) - - JUN 10, 2017
Pours a deep, dark amber color. Aromas of mildly spiced fruitcake. Full bodied with a rich malty palate. Almost chewy. Dark stone fruit finish with boozy warmth.

Aroma: damn that’s strange:strawberries, honey, peaches, pepper and gooseberry.
Appearance:pours dark amber with small white head.
Taste:semi-sweet,flavour of resins,honey-like maltiness, bit peppery, dry boozy finish.
Palate:medium body,medium carbonation.quite boozy.
Overall: Damn this aroma :D anyway not my type of quad, too estery and boozy.

750ml bottle, thanks Harri. Pours caramely amber colour, medium sized beige head stays and leaves lacing. Molasses, toffee, honey, tomato juice, spices in aroma. Spices, bittersweet, malt, bitters, booze, molasses, raisins in taste. Tannin aftertaste. Medium to full bodied, below average carbo. Agressive booze. Good quad, bit too agressive, but still enjoyable.
