750 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Best by 10/13. Looks good; a fairly opaque amberish brown with off-white lacing and lively carbonation. Smells solid; rye malt, coffee, and heavy roast with some dark fruit notes. Tastes like it smells with an average (somewhat bitter) mouthfeel. Good, not great. he flavor starts off with nice roasted coffee. Slight espresso notes. Flavorful but no too intense or overpowering. There is some nice coffee acidity to the brew as well. The malt backbone of the brew adds nice nutty notes such as some almonds and hazelnuts mixed in with slight cocoa notes and some mild caramel. Bottle. Pours amber worth a big off white head. Aroma of coffee, malt, cascara, some floral and caramel notes. Flavor is sweet and malty with some caramel, warming alcohol, coffee and nuts. Medium body, average carbonation.

Bottle, 75cl. A big light beige head forms over an unclear brown body. The aroma has loads of delicious coffee, spicy hints and some roasted malts. It’s lightly warming on the palate, full-bodied and with a high but suitable carbonation level. Roasted flavor with light caramel and nutty notes, a decent hoppy bitterness and a nice coffee touch. The coffee not as dominant as in the flavor. A pleasant sweetness too. The finish is a bit too warming, else really pleasant, with bitterness, coffee and sweetness, as well as some caramel, dark chocolate and nuts. Not really sure about this one. It’s very tasteful and pleasant on one side. Pours cloudy deep amber/brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, coffee, rye, cascara, alcohol and herbal hops. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, malty, caramel and coffee finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

750ml from The Perfect Pour, Elkridge, MD. Glad I grabbed this one, since it seems to be one of the Boulevards that didn’t make it to NC (for whatever reason). Nice deep brownish-amber pour with medium carbonation, very little lacing. Nose of toasted barley, caramel malts, and very deep bean personality. Prickly mouthfeel accentuates crisp, dry notes. But the deep sweetness of the malts is still there, functioning almost like cream in the coffee. Roasts are subtle, and the character is actually coffee rather than just char. Bottle. The look is clear, beige colored head, and bronze in color. The smell is coffee, herbal, green, more subtle coffee, berry, and nice. The taste is coffee, roast, Citrus, acidic, orange, nice coffee taste. Subtle and well put together to highlight the coffee bean.
