Dark brown almost black pour with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, vanilla and faint bourbon. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate fudge, ripe fruits, coffee, vanilla, caramel and faint bourbon notes. Full bodied, perfect carbonation, beautifully balanced, delicious beer! ljthiessen (1350) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 28, 2017

Draft at BitterCreek. I thought I had hit the highlights, but then this..... F’ing WOW! Inky black , small silky head. Blah, blah, blah. Aroma is a malted chocolate bar, roasty, sweet. Taste gets better, chocolate, sweet roast grains. And smooth....Velvet, dayglo bullfighter on velvet. Hits every mark. I’m melting into my bar stool. Incredible.

2014 vintage. First 2017 rating. Pours with a majestic, super-fine, chocolate milk colored head that lingers forever. Nose is booze, toffee, coffee, some esters. Smooth and creamy on the palate, alcohol is hidden extremely well. Lots of whiskey barrel flavor, vanilla, roasted malt, brown sugar. Only a hint of alcohol at the very end. A little on the sweet side for me. DocJitsu (2002) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - DEC 11, 2016
Pours a very dark brown with a huge, dense, mocha froth colored head. On the nose are whisky barrel oak, charred wood, tobacco, and the cherry often noted in certain bourbons--Maker’s Mark comes to mind. Moderately thick with an unusually lively carbonation. The aromas are well-represented in the flavors. What is notable though is the soured wood feature to the taste. fuzzcro (295) - Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2016
Quite excellent in nearly every way! I could drink this one regularly, no problem at all. It is a beautiful glass of stout and the high ABV is unrecognizable unless one sees it noted on the bottle...very smooth. wilnatp (720) - Minnesota, USA - NOV 8, 2016
2015 Bottle - Dark brown to black pour with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, oak, booze, vanilla and some roast notes. Taste if full and on the sweet side. Smooth mouthfeel. fiulijn (20806) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 16, 2016
Corked bottle from Steamworks Liquor Store, Vancouver; vintage 2014, batch I14297-2, bb 10-2016, 2 years old
Pitch black color, brownish creamy head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and coffee, in harmony. As I get rid of some carbonation and it gets warmer, the body gets stronger; very good dark chocolate flavor, with roasted nuts and a roasted malt component that doesn’t overwhelm the others.
