COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Over-the-top but surprisingly approachable, this twist on the classic style starts with several types of malted barley, rye, oats and wheat. Robust flavors of vanilla, espresso, whiskey, chocolate and roasted grain are balanced by hints of date and plum, with just enough hops to round it all out. Roughly one-third of the final blend is freshly brewed beer; the rest is aged for up to a year (or more!) in both first and second use whiskey casks.

Bottle Pours like most other Imperial stouts with some nice legs on the glass after every sip. nose is huge whiskey, vanilla, wood, dark malts (burnt, slight dark roast), Huge whiskey flavors on the palate but balanced with the huge dark malt base. Lots of roast, char, anise, vanilla and wood aging going on here. This is very nice. palate is robust and bold with a nice slick feeling, coating your throat as it goes down. Solid brew if you ask me.

Single from total wine. And damn if some do their single prices are not all jacked up. Last time I do that. Anyways. Pleasantly surprised here. Lots of vanilla and toasty esperesso. Bourbon sweetness and some raisin notes. Diverse and complex tasty.

Raisin and iron to the nose. Rich contact with the tongue, and it hangs on very well. Sweet, yes, but the grip of booze supports the cloying to the tongue. Sure there’s a barrel involved. Gotta love it. Woo Hoo! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2017 Pours black with khaki head. Scent is coffee, dark fruits, vanilla, and whiskey. Taste is plum, toffee, cocoa, oak, and whiskey finish. Warm alcohol feeling. Decent beer. A bit too much barrel though.

26.12.2017, 0,75l bottle (2013 vintage, best before 11.2015) @ home:
Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and dry roasted, dark malts, mild bourbon, oak, licorice, chocolate, leather, grass, bark, caramel, hay, coffee. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, mild bourbon, dark malts, oak, minerals, grass, chocolate, licorice, metal tank, toast, sour coffee. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish mineraly mouthfeel. Nice enough, probably a bit over the top.
