Tap at Grizzley’s. Cloudy golden pour. Aroma is straight peppermint. Taste follows, peppermint dominates, drinkable. Would never guess the ABV in this. BVery (11241) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JUN 10, 2017
Tap at Grizzly’s. Hazy orange pour with a white head. Peppermint aroma with a little whiskey, but the peppermint dominates. Easy drinking. Can’t believe the ABV is this high. Drake (14062) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 4, 2016
Keg at Beer Run, 6/6/16. Clear amber, thin creamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of toothpaste and a bit of citrus and rye. The taste is strong mint, anise, bready malt. Medium bodied. Vestergaard (2089) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - AUG 31, 2016
On tap at City Tap House. Pours a clear amber with a small og white head. Aroma has bourbon, honey, malts, hops, whiskey sour, light cumin spice. Taste is sweet, spicy, lots of bourbon, boozy, minty, again this weird cumin note. Average carbonation and an oily body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone MetalNHopHead (2129) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - AUG 30, 2016
The Smokestack Series has taken beer to some truly unique places. Tripel Julep is weird on a whole other level. It looks like your regular Tripel. Looks are where things stop being normal. They really went balls out with the mint in here; it’s not subtle at all. Big minty aroma. Strong herbal, minty taste, too, plus some partially sweet bread flavors. You feel the peppermint as well. Fresh and cooling sensation, which is definitely not unpleasant but really unusual. This won’t become a new Smokestack favorite but I have to admire the fact that this is completely crazy yet not disgusting.

A- Peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen toothpaste.
A- Gold color, hazy liquid, white head.
T- Mint, mouthwash, strong.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, minty finish.
O- This had so much potential and while it was good, the mint was simply overbearing and too much. Pull back the mint and it’ll be much better. sawbuck (756) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - AUG 12, 2016
Interesting...minty pepper aroma. Funk throughout...combo not off putting...interesting. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 6, 2016
glass shared and one sip was more than I needed. I truly don’t know what they were thinking with this one but this is like scope mouthwash with minty crest toothpaste in a glass. no no and no. CanIHave4Beers (4209) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - JUL 17, 2016
Pours a golden color with a medium sized head & some lacing on the glass. Nekronos (4174) - Xalapa, MEXICO - JUL 13, 2016
The aroma is pretty true to form... Lots of bourbon, lots of mint, smells like a dange cockedtail. Sort of boozy, a touch spicy... Mostly minty & bourbony.
The flavor is indeed mint-julep-esque, in fact not much of the character of the Long Strange Tripel remains after the mint and barrels have had their way with this. It’s booZy and it’s weird... It’s also tasty, and really I think it’s supposed to be all of the above.
Pretty good and quite spicy. Very Belgish and golden in features. Easy to enjoy too was.
